@uhohthatsweird @vikhyatk @guccimax221 @yacineMTB when the top of funnel expands drastically you can expect a lower activation rate. young people aren’t dumb now in a special way, but the quality of grads is diluted by the sheer increase in participation. combined with a bigger pool, interviewers just see more bad candidates.

@vikhyatk @guccimax221 @yacineMTB "young people are dumb now in a special unprecedented way" has always and forever will be a dumbass argument

@realOldBilly @nikitabier Statsig gives you 2m free events per month (2x mixpanel) and is then way cheaper after that.
English

@nikitabier It’s SO EXPENSIVE tho do u just sample down to a small # of events if you have a lot of traffic? Cheaper alternatives that do the same thing? Google analytics sucks for product analytics but I can’t find anything better that isn’t rly pricey

One of the most important skills to learn as a founder is how to use Mixpanel—especially with a very small sample size. This is not something you can delegate because only you will be obsessed enough to make sure your insights are valid.
Almost everyday I see founders get deluded into thinking:
A. They have an onboarding problem—that was actually triggered by internal debugging sessions by the devs, or
B. Their onboarding is working—but they are not properly tracking logged-out users
C. Users are sharing their app—but they are just tracking attempts and not the final send events
At the earliest stages, you must be using a patchwork of filters to remove users and constantly be auditing individual sessions to see what is actually happening during apparent drop-off.
Whenever I see someone who is a jedi in Mixpanel, I suddenly trust their assumptions 10x more.

@ZaidJilani The post is primarily a trash delivery service and its revenue would be decimated if we had sane laws about spam. Forcing me to accept IRL banner ads on their way to the recycling bin is not an efficient business and it wouldn’t exist but for government intervention.

@alexvalaitis @Velowit @harjtaggar is it nitpicking to call out a gross misunderstanding that invalidates the whole argument?

@buccocapital Impressive, but Michigan and Pennsylvania have voted the same way in every presidential election going back to 1992. 1988 the last time they voted for different candidates. Harris campaign is spending a lot of resources in Pennsylvania due to its importance.

@domjost biased but I work at Statsig and we're worth checking out. Well matched for most scenarios and better if you care about scale, support, and collaboration. Here's a quick comparison of us and Posthog: statsig.com/blog/differenc…

@seldo To bring the cost of their complements to near zero. FB is in the business of providing a platform for consuming engaging experiences and selling ads against them. A proliferation of cheap and powerful models means another form of engaging experiences. joelonsoftware.com/2002/06/12/str…

Per WSJ: “It’s official: CDC now says Covid is the flu.”
Can it be that we shut the world down creating incalculable damage to our economy and kids, and trampled on individual rights over a flu? Or is it that a small band of people went to extremes to cover up their Frankenstein research that escaped from a lab?
If it’s the latter, I’m glad it only turned out to be a flu. But the next time we may not be so fortunate and those people should be held accountable.

@mitsuhiko I want an IDE with built in AI running on separate company servers. Then it can be built in even to browser as gitlab IDE, just please be smart. If adobe can built in to Photoshop, why JB or GitLab or OpenAI are so slow? It will be revolution!
