@peeplaja There are some truly excellent interview podcasts, but your podcasts are exceptional!

Whatever is the easiest thing to do, most people will do. That's why 99% of the podcasts out there are interview podcasts. They're the easiest the produce. Just press record and ask questions. The lower the barrier to entry, the more competition. There's little to no moat. Everyone has the same guests. Which is why starting yet another interview podcast is probably not a good idea - unless you're Tim Ferriss or Joe Rogan. There are other formats out there. Or at least do a hybrid (like Masters of Scale, or How to Win - my pod).

@franciscojarceo @pitdesi @zebulgar I think the fundamental issue is that people who actually want to organize their money would do so with an abacus and everyone else would rather die.

@shreyas Often when it wasn’t the one I would’ve chosen, it turned out to be the better choice. Win-win.

@shreyas A favorite technique of mine is to share my top three ideas. In my experience, the one I would’ve chosen is frequently the one chosen but now it’s their choice and they have ownership and buy-in.

The biggest secret of influencing people is to make it their idea, not yours. This appears to take slightly more time than pushing your idea & asking them for their feedback. And it takes a lot more skill with asking great questions. But it creates fantastic buy-in. Just magic.

@shreyas It’s amazing how much can accomplish when you empower other people with ideas and give them the credit.

@johncutlefish @BryanFinster After years of being told “this the way”, my mind was blown when I learned most compliance starts with “this is the why”. Policy vs. Control Objectives, Standards and Procedures. Flexibility to earnestly address the why, but also for bureaucratic box checking.

@allenholub “Scope creep” is when someone asks you to add some thing you don’t think should be added. 🤪

"Scope creep" is a waterfall concept. If you're agile, scope changes continuously, maybe every few minutes, as you work. We start out with minimal scope; then scope grows as we release and talk to our customers. It's fundamental to the way we work—built into our methods.

@onejasonknight @vallebjose You're trying to make me rant about how two week sprints are most commonly installed and operated as an Agilefall project management process, aren't you? Predetermined features, year-long backlog, QA sprints, planning many sprints ahead, 3 months of sprints until release date...

@evanlapointe NP. I'm acutely aware of how important these things are and love what you share on twitter. I think all of my expense approvers (either at work or at home) are budget conscious late adopters so that biases my perspective. 🥲

How much would you pay for a 2-month course that taught you how to form better professional relationships, manage better, and get yourself and others performing at a higher level?

@evanlapointe Do I need IRB approval to experiment on my professional relationships? 😉 Jest aside, It’s important to practice (& get coaching/feedback) otherwise there are cheaper forms of edutainment. That said, hard to pay a lot personally or get approval without proof. Myopic but true.

@alexsauerbudge cognitive behavioral therapy. Experiment / attempt driven. Each week builds on the last. Like sharpening. Learning does not lead to habit. Doing does.
