Latin America is now aging faster than ANY region in the world. Chile has a lower birthrate than even Japan. What is going on?

When I was in high school here in Florida, I got a taste of the regime's hatred of me. I was a straight A student in all the AP and honors classes, with the highest possible weighted GPA. This was in a school with legit race riots in the news - due to the odd demographic split, half Southern redneck, half ghetto blacks (you'll need this for later). Two other students in the running for valedictorian: a black girl, and an Indian guy. You already know how this goes, don't you? They removed roadblocks for the two of them so they could stack classes out of order to take more weighted GPA classes than they let me take (I was not permitted to do this). But whatever, the Indian guy was bad in his foreign language classes - he was going to get a C in Spanish, which would have given me salutatorian at least. But the teacher gave him a ton of extra credit, especially for him and no one else, so that she could change his grade to an A. I was confused about this until I saw the local news. "School in the South with race riots graduates a black woman valedictorian and Indian salutatorian." Got it. I was whitey. It was fine to screw me over for a headline. I had the third highest GPA in that school's history up until that point and I was third in the class. I learned quickly that it doesn't matter how good you do if you're the wrong race/gender/whatever and can't give the school authorities a good soundbite in the news. There was never any universe where I would be allowed to stand on the podium. Fuck the public school system. h/t @travis4nh

the Employment Equity Act (1998) does not mandate quotas, which are illegal under the Act, but requires targets to ensure a company’s staff reflects national or regional demographics, and companies are generally not penalized if they can prove a lack of skilled candidates in a specific demographic. Elon Musk’s latest tirade against South Africa is a masterclass in billionaire bait-and-switch. He claims Starlink is banned solely because he isn’t Black, a narrative he pushes to his 200-million-plus followers as proof of "viciously racist" laws. In reality, the 30% local equity requirement he decries is a standard part of the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) framework that hundreds of other U.S. giants, including Microsoft, have navigated for decades without the "drama". Musk’s "principle" against these rules conveniently ignores that South Africa has already pivoted to accommodate him. As of December 2025, the government introduced Equity Equivalent Investment Programmes (EEIPs), allowing foreign firms like Starlink to skip the equity transfer entirely by investing in local infrastructure and skills. Instead of taking the win, Musk has escalated to hurling expletives at senior diplomats and alleging (without evidence) that he was pressured to "bribe" his way into a license. The irony is thick: while Musk plays the victim of "reverse racism", his refusal to follow local law is the primary hurdle keeping high-speed internet from the very rural South African communities he claims to want to help. It isn't about the color of his skin; it’s about a billionaire who believes his birthplace owes him a waiver for the same rules everyone else follows.

Ask an American about the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. A substantial portion will tell you it was necessary. Tragic, but necessary. It ended the war. It saved lives. Hard choices in impossible circumstances. Now ask them how they would feel if another country had done it to an American city. Watch the framework collapse in real time. Suddenly "necessary" is not a category that applies. Suddenly there are no hard choices and impossible circumstances. Suddenly it is simply: a crime. An act of war. An atrocity. This is not hypocrisy in the ordinary sense. This is a two-tiered moral universe so deeply internalized that most people living inside it cannot see the structure at all. Violence done to Americans is atrocity by definition. Violence done by Americans requires context. Requires understanding. Requires a discussion of the strategic situation. This is the psychological furniture. This is what empire builds inside the people who benefit from it. And it is almost invisible from the inside.

This post is so incredibly dumb in so many ways. It displays a not-even-wrong level of misunderstanding every fundamental. It’s tough to know where to begin. In what way does “temp” affect a DIGITAL computation? Does thinking occur any time two uncoordinated processes work in parallel? Because that’s all these results represent—two processes finishing in arbitrary order. If we both start breakfast at 7am and I finish before you, are we thinking? Did we form a brain? A well-earned “mute” for you 👏 👏

AI outputs are nondeterministic (even at temp zero) because of rounding errors that depend on summation order which depends on threading. I met some (highly educated) folks who heard this and got spooked that maybe AI *can* truly think after all.

An important lesson many conservatives who had high hopes for Trump are relearning. Character matters. Elect a volatile, ignorant, narcissistic, mendacious man, you get terrible governance. Owning the libs is no substitute for competence and persuasion.

As a casual observer, the panic some people display on this topic is totally misplaced. These two bugs will be patched, and… that’s the whole story. Even if there truly were 50 unique exploits, the outcome would basically be the same. In no scenario will AI-powered turbohackers take down the internet and steal everybody’s bitcoin. This is an arms race. We see those everywhere in nature, geopolitics, etc. They appear scary due to their exponential nature, but they just lead back to equilibrium.
gum@gum1h0x

ok i read the cyber part of the mythos model card. some thoughts. 250 "trials" across 50 crash categories but almost every full exploit is a permutation of the same 2 bugs, rediscovered from different starting points not 250 independent attempts. when you get rid of those 2 bugs out (fig B) and mythos's full-exploit rate drops to 4.4%. so actually across both setups mythos leverages 4 distinct bugs total not 50 as fig A might suggest. 1/n

NEW: FedEx driver who is accused of abducting and strangling a seven-year-old girl, puts his face in his hand as a photo is displayed of him driving her to her death. 7-year-old Athena Strand was seen standing behind Tanner Horner in his FedEx truck. Athena was allegedly snatched by Horner when he was delivering a Barbie doll to her home in Paradise, Texas. Horner initially claimed that he accidentally hit the girl with the truck before "panicking" and pulling her into the vehicle. He said he then strangled her in the vehicle and dumped the body 7 miles from the home. The photo, however, shows that Athena was alert in the truck and did not appear to have been struck by the truck. Wise County District Attorney James Stainton says the jury will see footage on the day of the killing, depicting the moment Athena was strangled to death. "Somebody covered up the camera because they don't want you to see. Guess what? Audio is still running, and you're going to hear it. You're going to hear what a 250-pound man can do to a 67-pound child," he said. "And when I say it's horrible, I mean it. I've been doing this for 25 years, and I promise you, buckle up." Horner qualifies for the death penalty.

@Asmongold Third worlders is derogatory. Also, first, second and third world are not valid categories anymore. Many of the once third world countries are now super powers. Also, in terms of standard of living, it is highly questionable if US is still a "first world".country.

If Trump is going to spend huge amounts of political capital on something ugly and difficult but necessary, it should be mass deportations of every single illegal alien regardless of age or criminal record, and defying every judge who tries to stop him. That is the kind of war, the kind of risky move with potentially disastrous political ramifications (but maybe not), that I would get behind every step of the way and so would millions of ordinary Americans. It’s an extreme measure that must be done and if Trump doesn’t do it, it’s likely that no one ever will.
