@TopTierPucks For me to buy playoff tickets as a SSH holder of the Oilers, it's going to cost me $13K if they play 16 games. $9K+ if only 12 home games. And where's that money going? Equalization payments to prop up sunbelt teams? Thanks, but no thanks. I'm passing.

@NHLPlayerSafety Did this suspension come with a warning to the other 31 teams in the NHL that "playing thr Florida Panthers may be hazardous to your health"?

@oilersgm2 @fivestargc @cmcdavid97 I also think about Aikman. If you've seen the Cowboys Netflix doc he says when they had Jimmy Johnson he'd tear guys new ones and Aikman would play the good guy and dismiss it. Quietly, he LOVED these guys were getting chewed out. Jimmy's fired, in comes Barry Switzer and is a..

Hot take - @cmcdavid97 is burnt out and the Oilers lack leadership. Coach down. 97 had a terrible turnover that lead to the GWG against. Trying to often to do it himself. It’s obvious this team isn’t a team. 97 was a captain for Canada. I don’t see that same leader on the ice rn.

@mathewjdp I think they need to add some vets for bottom-6 & extra roles. They need to leave lots of room for kids, they need a plan to ensure no forward is played less than 12 mins a night. I think they have a lot of what they need right now. They need to stop cheating for easy solutions.

@oilersgm2 @fivestargc @cmcdavid97 I look at Michael Jordan, &on his own he was a difficult person to play around. But he had Pippen & others who helped take that edge off. I don't know if connor needs someone to add edge, or take it off, but the team that went to Cup finals had lots of voices. This one doesn't.

@fivestargc @cmcdavid97 I don’t think he’s a bad leader. I don’t think he’s being a good leader right now and parts of this season. Both can be true. I didn’t see accountability for that turnover that Lead to a GWG against after extending a long shift. A team that doesn’t start on time. Inconsistent.

@grok @7pzzzz @Rightanglenews Again. Using power for a concert while people dont have power in hospitals and holding a concert to praise the commie regime is an oxymoron. You can deliver aid without the spectacle. The Cuban people will not be mocked with this idiots.

BREAKING - All patients on ventilators at a Cuban hospital died after the Irish band Kneecap used massive amounts of electricity during a “humanitarian performance” for fellow communists, while the performers and activists stayed in a five-star hotel with power.

@AdriaOfCourse @FoodProfessor @TLNewmanMTL I have been radicalized on tipping at this point. I loathe getting a prompt for tips that START at 18% & go up to 30% (even got this prompt at a convenience store in Canmore). I'm tired of it. Pay the people what you need to to keep them employed and charge me what you need to.

@FoodProfessor @TLNewmanMTL In Canada servers are paid minimum wage plus tips. So tipping is unnecessary. In USA they are paid like $3/hour & the tips bring the wage up to minimum & if they don’t the employer pays the gap.

"The survey suggesting that 67% of Canadians want tipping to disappear misses a critical piece of context: respondents weren’t asked how food service employees would be compensated instead. If the question included whether they would accept higher menu prices to offset wages, the results would likely look very different."

@nielsonTSN1260 @jvs3ph Bold take, but it's hard to disagree. People also know how good Magic Johnson was, right? He dominated as a PG but could also drop in as a power forward or even a center. Also: NBA history didn't start in 1984. The league wouldn't be here without great players before MJ.

@Oil_Drop At this juncture I wish they would get Connor Unger up for 3 games. Give him at least one of them. See what you have. If you like the first, give him the second. And decide from there.

Most will focus on the coach comments, which is fine. For me, the repeated mentions of how good "their goalie" was, is what stood out to me. At the moment, Tampa's group is better & more committed than the Oilers. Players go all in, when they believe in their goaltending.

I said I wouldn’t say “Fire Knoblauch” again, but now you’ve had BOTH your superstars discreetly taking shots at his coaching in the media. The fans see it, and the players see it. Why doesn’t Katz fucking see it??!! It’s not too late to make a change! Ask the 2000 NJ Devils!!

@corprice12 I could see that. I hope he first reflects on how to make his teammates better and how to make sure they feel some responsibility on the team and they aren't just passengers there for the ride. That seems to be the feeling from these guys for far too long.

I could see 97 sailing off to Tampa to play with Cooper in 2 years if the Oilers dont make key moves this summer with proper cap and player management. Lots of holes

In the early 90s, I was a bartender at a place called the Elephant & Castle in the Eaton Center. John Colicos would come in from time to time and have a drink… One day he came in, sat down and the guy next to him immediately asked for his bill. I said, “What’s the rush? He said, “I don’t like drinking with Klingons.” We laughed, but the guy actually left the bar! #truestory

John Colicos was the first man to portray a Klingon on Star Trek. He was a veteran of the Stratford Festival. He acted in The National Dream, voiced Apocalypse on X-Men: The Animated Series and much more. This is his story. 🧵 1/9

@oilers_life @ShaneDoolittle The Oilers drafted Broberg for defense and Lavoie as a big power forward. They could have had Matt Bolby as the power forward and Jackson Lacombe as the defenseman. I wanted Bolby in that draft.

Steve Yzerman was 32 years old when he won his first Stanley Cup. Alex Ovechkin was 33, and Steven Stamkos was 30. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl still have time. It’s just the Oilers may need a hard reset/retool this offseason.

@unclesid44 @TSNRyanRishaug He can leave in 27 months or sooner if he asks. And when he wins, it will be an asterisk win like LeBrons have all been. And if this team locks down into a stronger system without him, the guys play it to a T, and win a Cup, he'll look even worse.

McDavid post game on the lightning “They got a great system. They’re perfectly coached. They all know what they’re doing all over the ice. It’s impressive. They are a great team.” “They’re extremely well coached they’re extremely well organized. They’re very very rehearsed in everything that they do. It’s very impressive and when you do break them down, they got a heck of a goalie to back stop them.” I Asked him how they can get to that place with their system. “That’s a coaching question you can ask Knobber that question. Obviously we’ve been play together a long time and we feel like we’re somewhat rehearsed and organized, but not to their level.”

My brother moved to America during covid because the government of Canada was so fucking gay, he’s an electrician. He just got promoted to Forman with his company. He get full health benefits, a health spending account, pension and 401k matching, vacation fund, truck, fuel, laptop, phone, tablet and his boss just slipped him 10 $100 bills as a “thanks for not being a retard” present. He is now making $126 an hour in Illinois, the second worse state in the U.S. which is mogging every province in Canada. He called me on his vacation at Myrtle Beach, wondering why the fuck I haven’t left Canada yet. If Alberta doesn’t gain independence it’s hard to think of any reason to stay.
