@eigenrobot my take is that this is in respect to old culture/respect for elders types of obedience in america that gets lost. but end of the day, american exceptionalism exists and that’s the reason why immigrants move, and 99% wouldn’t go back.

this is fairly infuriating because i'm extremely aware this is not a universal view among immigrant groups. but it's also an incredibly corrosive view and i don't want these people to have residency much less citizenship so what's the solution that's not just ending immigration
