@caresource Is it your typical policy to deny surgery for acute tendon ruptures in the dominant arm of a young laborer? Asking for a patient who is supposed to have surgery but is being told that his insurance company (you) hasn’t approved the procedure.

@JaredMahylisMD My indications for a balloon are very narrow but I think keeping them narrow has given me good outcomes. Physiologically young, massive irreparable posterior cuff with either an intact or reparable subscap, minimal OA, and goal is pain relief and fast rehab, not strength.

You know physician reimbursement is broken, when I’m being asked to take a 10min survey for $170, much higher than Medicare pays for a hospital follow up, for a complex patient that takes much longer than 10 minutes. #Stopthepaycut. @CMSGov

@Clinorthop Why is this considered “contrary to popular belief”? I feel like it’s well-understood that increased operative time leads to increased complication rates for basically every surgery that we do.

Contrary to popular belief, Abella et al. found that longer operative times increased the odds of all adverse surgical outcomes for patients undergoing TKA, regardless of a patient’s BMI. Read in #CORR #obesity #orthoTwitter ow.ly/QKkB50RuM43

@DollarCars @TMobileHelp I rented a vehicle using T Mobile Magenta status. The check in agent at Dollar didn’t acknowledge the discount code. I was charged closed for $200 for gas. @DollarCars customer service won’t don’t anything to help. Maybe @TMobile can do something?

@Aetna Can you explain to me why my patient’s preoperative CT was approved, but their surgery was denied because they “haven’t done enough physical therapy”? Take a look at this xray and let me know how therapy is supposed to help this patient.

@RapSheet If it’s truly a grade III AC injury, then there’s no reason to proceed directly to surgery. Studies show no difference in outcome between acute and delayed reconstruction.

The #Colts may have to wait until 2024 to see more of QB Anthony Richardson. Sources say season-ending surgery is being strongly considered, perhaps the best option to fix his shoulder long-term. My story: nfl.com/news/colts-qb-…

I have been at work for 4 hrs and haven't had one patient. I am low key convinced someone turned the sign off.

@LadyInterlocks I switched last year to the double mask — KN95 with the ear loops over buttons on my scrub cap, then a sticky green mask on top. No fog, no tape, no issues. Highly recommend.

Anybody else use tape on the top of their mask in the OR to keep their glasses from fogging up but sometimes you get the tape a little high & then when you take it off it’s like you’re ripping off your lower eyelid?

For my birthday, my awesome office staff that loves to tease gave me this OR hat and some bourbon, my CRNA buddy got me some Willett, and my PA got me a fishing pole. These people make my job even more enjoyable. I’m 40. 😬

@OrthopodReg I got an anxiety attack just looking at this. I’ve capped my clinics at 5 patients per hour. I don’t have a scribe, a PA, a resident, or anything but myself. Every time I walk out of a room and see patients already waiting, my blood pressure spikes.
