In front of Subhadra Shakti Bazar, Bhubaneswar, a stall has been set up by women farmers of Swayam Sampurna Women Farmers Producer Company Ltd., based in Mayurbhanj, and promoted under the APC Program. Fresh watermelons, along with jackfruit and bitter gourd, are now available directly from the farmers. This is a joint effort of the Department of Mission Shakti, the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment and PRADAN. In Deogarh, the real harvest this season isn’t just watermelon, it’s confidence growing in the hands of women farmers. Under the APC State Scheme , newly formed Producer Groups like Adishakti PG (Reamal) and Chilika PG (Tileibani) have together turned around 376 tonnes of produce into ₹28 lakh of earnings. With facilitation from our partners CSDR in Reamal and IRDMS in Tileibani, their efforts are slowly shaping stronger, more secure lives. Pallahara block in Angul district is making steady progress through collective and unique farming. Farmers, through Lahadagad Farmer Producer Company (FPC) Ltd supported by Mission Shakti, have till date marketed 28.75 MT of a distinctive yellow watermelon variety, earning a total of ₹3.58 lakh. With regular efforts by the FPC, farmers now have better access to quality inputs, stronger market linkages, and are receiving better prices for their produce. In Kesabguda village under Mujanga GP, members of the Buda Jhankar Debi PG have successfully undertaken organic sunflower cultivation over an area of 30 acres, reflecting a transition towards climate-resilient and income-enhancing agricultural practices. The initiative has been supported by ITDA, Koraput, through the provision of quality seeds and organic inputs, and has been effectively facilitated by the APC implementing partner CYSD, Dasamantapur. In Jashipur Block of Mayurbhanj district, strawberry cultivation under the APC program, in Dhalabani Gram Panchayat has witnessed a significant expansion in cultivated area, increasing fivefold from 2.5 acres to 12.5 acres, which demonstrates strong potential for its growth in the coming days. With the input support by Directorate of Horticulture, and facilitation by PRADAN, farmers have generated ₹18.7 lakh in the last two months, with further income expected. This month, farmers from seven Producer Groups in Turekela Block of Balangir District collectively marketed 280 quintals of drumstick through Nariswabhiman Farmers Producer Company Ltd., Turekela, enabling improved market access and better price realization for the farmers. The initiative highlights the leadership and active participation of women farmers, who played a key role in the aggregation and marketing process. An export consignment of 2 quintals of papaya has been successfully sent to European markets from Dhenkanal district, reflecting coordinated efforts in strengthening agri-export linkages. The export was undertaken with institutional support from ORMAS, Dhenkanal. The MoU for APC Project Extension in Angul was formally signed on 21st February 2026, marking an important milestone in strengthening livelihood initiatives in the district. In Loisingha block of Balangir district, under the APC State Scheme, 9 Women Producer Groups collectively marketed 28,819 kg of tomatoes, generating a total income of ₹8.83 lakh with facilitation from our Partner YCDA.
