@Markdarling89 @zeynepmyenisey coffee grind size, using cold water in the pot to begin (use ~95c), too hot flame, letting it "spit" at the end - take it off the flame just before this and dip in cold water to stop the boiling. It should be a steady slow flow of coffee like in the image.

@DrJesseMorse There is a subset of the MTHFR population that cannot tolerate methylated b vitamins and have to go for things like folinic acid and hydroxocobalamin - we are the most fun! We can’t methylate well but can’t tolerate the methylated form

If you have abnormal MTHFR gene (30-40% of US), methylation issues and elevated homocysteine level watch this video by James below, he did a good job breaking it down. If you haven’t checked, get your homocysteine level checked. Most concerning MTHFR gene variant: C677T – Homozygous (TT) Why? Because it reduces MTHFR enzyme activity by ~60–70%, leading to elevated homocysteine, endothelial dysfunction, increased cardiovascular and thrombotic (clotting) risk, pregnancy complications and neurotransmitter/detox/DNA repair issues. This occurs in 5-14% of the population and this is the variant that most often requires active methylated folate (5-MTHF) rather than folic acid. The other and 2nd-most most clinically relevant pattern is called Compound Heterozygous (C677T + A1298C). Where the person has One copy of C677T + one copy of A1298C. This leads to a net enzyme reduction: ~40–60% and patients often have moderate elevation in homocysteine, Neuropsychiatric symptoms (anxiety, brain fog, mood dysregulation), inefficient detoxing and are sensitive to synthetic folic acid. A simple blood test can tell you your MTHFR status and as a result you can avoid certain foods and add important foods and supplements to your diet.

@TweetsOfSumit There is a lag in bluetooth when gaming so wifi headphones are preferred for their high bandwidth and reduced latency. Think of a game where things happen fast, if a sound is a [few] millisecond(s) off you'll notice it, especially if it's a sound from something you can't see.

Can someone explain this to me? In the Apple world (which I'm used to), there is no lag in bluetooth audio. It is 100% in sync - always. It works flawlessly. Do I have to expect audio lag (= audio not in sync with a YouTube video) on PC? This can't be right...

SPD wants to raise capital gains tax to 30%, add a transaction tax, remove a tax break on real estate and introduce a wealth tax. Wtf… It gets harder and harder to build wealth in Germany. And it’s already crazy hard. Idk man… I don’t like the direction this is going. Maybe leaving should be back on my options list?

Finanztransaktionsteuer, Vermögensteuer, 30% Abgeltungsteuer, Wegfall der Spekulationsfrist für nicht selbstgenutzte Immobilien: Was da über #SPD-Forderungen kolportiert wird, erinnert eher an Elmar Brandts Steuersong als an eine valide Koalitions-Agenda. youtu.be/GTggD1vShoA?fe…

I often think about this when I have to read signs. (sad, I know) What prompted them to strike out "Do not forget" and replace it with "Remember". Any insights @rorysutherland ?

Like there's thing that I experienced being Dutch I thought Netherlands was THE most democratic and free place in the world with the highest taxes but that was good cause you know we paid for freedom Then I left Netherlands and realized, it's quite democratic (still has corruption but not as visible), not so free at all (America is), it doesn't really have the highest taxes (France does) Similarly Portuguese I meet think their coffee is the best in the world, but it's burnt and easily one of the worst, Portuguese who have lived abroad agree with this, Portuguese who never lived abroad get angry if you say this!
@levelsio@levelsio

I think travel and fitness are two of the most important things you can do for your brain Travel removes your own culture's biases from your thinking: there's other cultures with properties that are better or worse than your own Fitness balances your hormone system to make you think clearly: a healthy body is a healthy mind Both are also great for neuroplasticity: the ability for your brain to evolve over time

@niallm Friends of my dad worked in it, they use to meet up at the house, most were into electronics and computers, as a youngin I just hung around and absorbed it all. Later, one of them got me a start as a summer job doing some coding. Forever choice from early exposure I guess.

Asking here because I'm writing a related piece -- For those who got into STEM _prior_ to a professional career, how and when did it happen? Family members? Influential media? An event? A special teacher? Was it the forever-choice from early on, or one of many potentials?
