This is probably the lowest I've been since a few years.
Can't find freelance work, was super close of getting a good job in a startup in Switzerland, I failed B2B sales, and I don't know how I'll pay rent this month. Worst of all: my second baby is coming next month.
I did tons of outreach that I should have started earlier. But it'll likely won't bring any result for at least a month.
So yeah, if you're looking for a senior developer with 10+ years of experience (18 in total, 13 as a pro), tons of skills, Laravel + ecosystem expert, LLMs expert, design expertise, business expertise, etc.

@DavidKPiano I still write most of the code by hand lol. Agents get to write in a very wel designed project and where examples already exist how to do the thing.

Okay let's be real, writing code was never the hard part. Understanding the problem, making the tradeoffs, knowing what (not) to build, etc... LLMs made the typing 10x faster but it didn't make the thinking 10x easier.
Also let's not pretend we were writing code in notepad before LLMs. We had frameworks, generators, libraries, intellisense, snippets, autocomplete, StackOverflow (RIP), and an entire ecosystem of abstractions designed to make writing code not *that* tedious.

NYC salaries are much higher than London, but at the same time:
- rent is 4k not 1k
- eating out is $100s not £10s
- buying food in a Supermarket is mental ($40 for a steak Vs £5)
Add in zero holiday, and zilch workers' rights and the disparity starts to look rather smaller

@DavidKPiano I really don't know about *most* .. it's still dumb af, good autocompleting functions and finding things in big legacy codebase eg glorified grep. Anything else is just slop and not worth the time

Any serious software engineer with experience knows that coding is a very small part of the job
And any dev not influenced by hype knows that AI can only automate *most* of coding well, but not so much the rest
