@Abt_Benjamin @csharpfritz Depending on locale, the last-mile distribution lines in the US can be in excess of 7 kV, and yes, it's three phase. But again, there's nothing inherently "better" about how EU provides residential power. It's just an engineering choice and they chose differently.

@Abt_Benjamin @csharpfritz Also, the US electrical grid is 3-phase. It is only converted to 240V split-phase at the final transformer that provides electricity to the home. Also, many businesses are served with 208v 3-phase. Finally, it is possible to get much higher voltage service where necessary.

I’m baffled…. Big tech is forcing us to have 3 different power cables.. we must pass laws to force them to have 1 cable! .. but what about the various electrical adapters I need when I travel in Europe?

@Abt_Benjamin @csharpfritz Whoever created this map doesn't understand how North American electricity works. Power distributed to homes in the US is 240V split-phase (240V hot-to-hot, 120v hot-to-neutral). We have plenty of 240v appliances, such as air conditioning, electric stoves, and L2 EV Chargers.

@csharpfritz Post-Brexit, there's functionally only one plug type in Europe: Type F. It is cross compatible with types C & E which can be found in certain areas of Europe. Type G is used in the UK, but that's not part of the EU.
