Pune is finally set to get entrance gates at some of its biggest entry points after the Pune Municipal Corporation approved the long-pending proposal. The gates will be built on major roads leading into the city, including the Pune-Mumbai Expressway, Solapur Road, Bengaluru Highway and Ahmednagar Road. The plan had been delayed for years, but PMC’s standing committee has now given the green signal. Civic officials say the project will move ahead soon, although the PMC will need permission and coordination from the National Highways Authority of India because most of these roads fall under national highways. PMC says the gates are meant to reflect Pune’s identity as a historic and important city. Houses of both Hindus and Muslims were demolished, but the Hindu families were given land and compensation, while the Muslim families were given nothing. Some villages in Assam’s Goalpara district have now been completely deserted. The houses in Bhatia Para and Dashabhuja villages, which fall under the Mornoi police station area, were ordered to be demolished by the Assam government, stating that they were built illegally. According to the government, both villages were illegally settled on land belonging to the Dahikata Reserve Forest. After losing their homes, the residents are now forced to live along the riverbank

The Sadhu Vaswani Bridge was supposed to fix one of Pune’s biggest traffic problems in just 18 months. Instead, 22 months later, the project is still unfinished and commuters are stuck in worse traffic than before. The ₹83 crore bridge project in Koregaon Park has now become a full-blown fight between Pune Police and PMC. Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar says only 40–50% of the work is complete and the contractor should be blacklisted. PMC Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram says 85% of the project is done and the bridge will be ready in two months. Meanwhile, the reality on the road is simple: diversions, broken roads, endless traffic and no clear answer. The 1,000 mm water pipeline has still not been shifted, commuters are losing hours every day, and even the officials cannot agree on how much work is actually done. One side says 50%. This is Ranvir Singh Yadav. - In 1973, he was a bus conductor in Delhi (DTC). - He was accused of issuing a ₹0.10 ticket instead of ₹0.15 and keeping 5 paise. - The DTC filed a case against him. - In 1976, he was dismissed from his job. - He fought the case in court for decades. - In 1990, he won in the Labour Court. - DTC kept appealing, dragging the case in the High Court for over 40 years. - DTC spent ₹47,000 to recover 5 paise. In 2016, the Delhi High Court dismissed DTC's appeal and directed it to pay Yadav ₹30,000, along with ₹1.28 lakh as gratuity and ₹1.37 lakh as CPF. This is how an innocent man’s life was wasted fighting for 5 paise, while ministers commit fraud of crores and live comfortably in London.

The Vande Bharat is nice and all, but like all other ICF products, these coaches age horribly. This is the 22962 barely after 2 years of usage. The paint is coming off, and those panel gaps look terrible. The glass on my side of the window and the one opposite to me was shattered with water droplets obscuring the view. The ones that didn't have this issue were unclean from the outside. The coaches aren't being washed/cleaned and the general maintenance seems to have taken a hit now that the "newness" has vanished. Pictures taken during my Ahmedabad Mumbai trip last week.
