@nielsonTSN1260 @jong9548 Literally stop blaming him, you want him to leave net front when puck is there to guard a guy 6 feet outside that only a heroic pass gets there? Come on man, anyone on the Oilers makes that pass you’re writing a song about it. Amazing play by Granlund

@EmptyNettersPod That’s the second line brother, “depth” lol, they ain’t depth when drai is there. Instantly top 6 forwards as soon as Drai is back

Oooooof brutal D by the Ducks there letting Drai get that easy zone entry and it leads to a tuck. Another depth player scoring for the Oilers and they’ve reclaimed the lead

"It can't just be offence... I love what he's done for the Oilers this season, but that's not the best defenceman in the NHL." Jason Bukala joins @ailishforfar and @jccuthbert to break down why Evan Bouchard shouldn't be a finalist for the Norris Trophy.

We all have biases and first impressions impact our views of players. It is difficult to change how we see a player. A bad start is hard to overcome, while a good start keep player in good books In October: Makar had 17 pts in 12 GP and was +14. Hutson had 10 pts in 11 GP and was +11 Werenski had 8 pts in 10 GP and was +9 Q. Hughes had 7 pts in 9 GP and was -1 Bouchard had 7 pts in 12 GP and was -9. Since November 1st: Makar has 43 pts in 46 GP and is +15. Hutson has 49 pts in 48 GP and is +20 Hughes has 52 pts in 42 GP and is -2. Werenski has 57 pts in 44 GP and is -1 Bouchard has 62 pts in 49 GP and is +23 You can also look at GF% overall, which I think is important to not just look at 5x5, since much higher percentage of goals/TOI come on special teams. D-men on PK and PP impact overall game even more. Fun discussion, but no question pre-conceived notions on players impact how we view them, good or bad.
BucciOT.Com@Buccigross

If I have a Norris Trophy vote again this year there is a pretty good chance Matthew Schaefer will be in my Top 5. Right now I'd probable go 1) Werenski 2) Hughes 3) Makar 4) Hutson 5) Schaefer Raddysh, Sanderson, Heiskanen, Chycrun, Dahlin, Bouchard (he's +14),Seider in neighborhood

@tyleryaremchuk This 3rd period would have been great to have another elite offensive d man like Bouchard to run out there double shifting with Makar.

@kurri_jari @PatricePusey Keep living on that brother. It’s literally the only thing you have. Again this conversation was about tkatchuk vs draisaitl and you gave that up instantly and went to the only positive you have. Enjoy those memories from 12 and 14 years ago. Sick

I'd take Matthew Tkachuk on my team 29x over a Leon Draisatl on my team. Tkachuk has been an emotional leader and high performer for a team that has won 45 playoff games in the past three seasons. Meanwhile, Draisatl in February: "...there's saves that our goalies need to make at some point..." Thank you.
Patrice Pusey@PatricePusey

@kurri_jari Switch Draisaitl and Tkachuk and you know what you get? The same result, the Panthers beat the Oilers twice. The major difference? The Oilers without Draisaitl aren't close to a conference final, the Panthers without Tkachuk are the same team.

So, you've never seen your favorite team win a Cup while you're alive. But you've seen them come up short in the biggest moment three times. 2012 and 2014 were fun! It was good to watch Los Angeles win 45 playoff games in three seasons and lift the Cup twice. Watch the Hawks/Kings 6/1/2014 Game-7. You'll see what two teams of talent, character look like battling each other. Not the characters on Edmonton losing back to back and Leon being petulant. Thank you.

@kurri_jari @PatricePusey Bro, you’re such a bum. Do we want to list all the cups each team was won in the history of the franchise? You’ll lose, I promise. You’re talking about tkatchuk vs draisaitl and you being a 2012 and 2014 cup into the mix. Neither were in the league. Get more desperate.

@austinweldon11 @PatricePusey Hi. The Oilers lost to Matthew back to back in 2024 and 2025. Tkachuk lifted the Cup. And Leon cried into a Warsteiner. Thank you.

You're missing the leadership component - the intangibles because you're seemingly so taken by some neat highlights by Leon teaming with McDavid. Sorry Charlie, but if I'm starting a franchise tomorrow and looking to set tone - it's Tkachuk over Draisatl by country miles. I'd wager a buck or two on Edmonton handling Florida with Tkachuk an Oiler and the German a Panther, to be honest.

@OilLeak26 @nielsonTSN1260 Matt Savoie one of those rookies who can’t score has 6 points in those same 18 games. Roslovic had a great first half last year too I believe and then fell off a cliff. I’m just saying no reason to rush and sign him based on 15-20 good games.
