@DefiantLs Are there lots of Argentinians infected? Why is it only foreigners that contract the disease while touring in Argentina?

@ShadowofEzra It's quite hard to catch hantavirus. Infections are rare, and transmission requires specific exposure to infected rodents or their waste, it's not something that spreads easily like the flu, COVID, or colds. hantavirus does not typically spread from human to human.

The Director of the World Health Organization, Dr. Tedros, says every country in the world is now expected to fall in line with his International Health Regulations because of hantavirus. He says it is now a moral obligation for nations to submit to and believe in his Global Health Order. "It's only when we support each other that we can respond more effectively to viruses and outbreaks." "Countries are expected to cooperate based on International Health Regulations."

Redmond and Seattle police officers have arrested the second suspect connected to the violent assault of a 77-year-old man in Seattle. On May 4, Redmond officers responded to a report of a man matching the suspect’s description at a business on Leary Way. An observant community member recognized him from surveillance footage released earlier that day, helping officers quickly locate and arrest the individual. This arrest reflects strong coordination between agencies and the impact of community vigilance. Redmond’s Real-Time Information Center also played a key role by providing officers with access to Seattle camera images while on scene. The investigation remains active as the second suspect is still wanted. Anyone with information is urged to call 911 immediately. Do not approach. 🔗 Read more: redmond.gov/m/NewsFlash/ho…

@EndWokeness Evidently, it was domestic violence at a restaurant, and threw a sauce packet, kicked, and hit a blonde white woman. The defense lawyer says that only the black man was arrested, but not the white woman, so pulls the race card, and says there's not probable cause. He was released

For the most devoted fans, Disney has engineered an ecosystem of financial entanglement that goes far deeper than park tickets or merchandise, which keeps the magic—and the debt—perpetually compounding. In 2023, Ashley, a freshman at Quinnipiac University, in Connecticut, had $15,000 in her bank account. Excited by her newfound freedom as a college student, she decided to start going on solo trips. Walt Disney World, in Orlando, Florida, seemed like an obvious choice. She went during her winter break. Then she returned, six times, in two years. Soon enough, her account balance had dwindled to just five dollars. Perhaps unsurprisingly, many adults who have accumulated Disney debt seem to be chasing a feeling from their childhoods. One woman, who has been to Disney World more than a hundred times, said that visiting the parks takes her back to a time when she had fewer worries: “It’s the nostalgic feeling of what brought you joy when you were little and you didn’t have the stressors of adult life.” Read more about the Disney adults putting themselves in debt for the pursuit of magic: newyorkermag.visitlink.me/_JqtFg

@ShksprnDngrMnky @aviel And then they do a remake of that movie, changing it up so the witch was actually the good character who was sadly mistreated and the bloodied hero was the horrible villain all along

There's a scene in the given movies... where the hero walks in, all bloodied and worn out, hving finally made it past all the things that stopped him from getting to that high office, and against all protestations, and in full humane reasoning grabs the screaming witch, with both hands, holds her screeching struggling self over his head, marches over to the high cliff/parapet or endless deep earth crevasse, and throws her screaming undesirable problem filled mess of a vile self...into the abyss. That's the part of those movies that is... so satisfying.

Ok, I’ve finally processed how I experienced this, and it’s a big deal. I grew up hearing stories from my father and grandfather about the Soviet Union, but this was the first time I truly understood them, like the difference between hearing stories about having a child and actually holding your own newborn. Like an ancestral alarm. It’s devastating. Everything in me is screaming to divest from the region that I’ve poured my adult life into to survive. The feeling of loss is immeasurable, and the casual “bye” just makes it worse. The damage from the lack of empathy here will create a cycle of attacks that take decades to undo and will bloody the hands of everyone around me, there are no sidelines in my line of work. This also isn’t about taxes, the cost of reorienting my life is infinitely greater. It’s now primal and existential.

Thirty years ago was a turning point in office culture. AOL Instant Messenger came out. I noticed that all my employees were using it. Actual work came to a standstill. I was outraged – this struck me as time theft – but decided it would be better to allow the work ethic to re-emerge organically rather than act like a dictatorial central planner. Some network computer consultant came in and wanted to set everyone up with a centrally controlled machine over which only one machine would have administrative rights. I said no and essentially had everyone use a personal computer instead. All these years, I've always insisted on owning my own machine in every work environment, even forwarding all work email to a single account managed by me personally. Apparently I was a real outlier here. As it turns out, the centralizers won corporate culture completely. Today every decent-sized company demands that all employees use office machines, building a huge and thick wall between personal and company time. No more social media. No more app control. No more texting except for office texts and platforms. Forget work/life balance. On company time and in company space, there is only the company. Companies today won't even let employees check personal email on office machines. It's become extreme. I'm actually shocked by this in retrospect. I had bet that individualism would triumph – everyone would own their own and cooperate with others but in a decentralized way – but I was completely wrong. Now offices are surveillance-based police states and you have to sneak look at your phone even to have a life outside of work. This is something I never would have predicted. It's no wonder everyone hates work these days.

When I see stories like this, I know the chances of these children being sent back to that drug abusing adult in a few days is a certainty. Then I think, “how much longer until they get into those drugs and die?” Sadly, the numbers show it’s just a ticking time bomb waiting to happen as the state negligently stands by while the risk escalates until the worst happens due to the Keeping Families Together Act. It makes me so angry, especially given how abundantly clear the answer is. WA State is violating the 14th amendment rights of these kids until they are a black line in a fatality report. These are defenseless and small human beings, not just another government statistic created by radical ideology. Any “public servant” who does not want to immediately remove these babies from these obviously deadly situations, is not worthy to serve. Full stop. And I mean every single word of that, you can write it on my gravestone. #Echobox=1777583168" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">kiro7.com/news/local/3-c…
