@kprather88 @airborne_ucsd the very reason @EPA and The San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) and residents are suing SF. Closing a major outfall and deliberately distroying the areas quality of life and safety is unfathomable. @Safeway great idea to increase housing here right now

(1/23) More on the largest ongoing environmental health crisis in the United States. Many of you asked for more details on our Tijuana River research after my thread yesterday [x.com/kprather88/sta…]. Here's what we (@airborne_ucsd) have found so far — and why no one should be forced to breathe this toxic air for another day. 🧵
Kimberly Prather, Ph.D.@kprather88

🧵Right now, 40–80 MILLION gallons of raw sewage and wastewater flow through San Diego's South Bay region EVERY DAY — poisoning the air, water, and people in some of California's most socio-economically challenged communities. This is the largest ongoing environmental crisis in the U.S. Most Americans have no idea. A thread. (1/10) 👇

I predicted someone like Trump many years ago, in THE DEAD ZONE. So now I'm saying this--in the next 12-16 months, we're going to find out if the two machines for the removal of a man unable to fulfill his duties actually work. They are impeachment and the 25th amendment. He is deeply unwell .

@wholemars @elonmusk @elonmusk when it comes to Tesla Solar you need to review the activation process, an email link might cut jobs but doesn't cut it when it comes to basic customer service. Its not the customers job to activate and understand the system.

@AddictionsPMC You can't fight wall street! Politics, lobbists, wannabe leaders, all feed into who funds them. No different than the CBD market, in 20 years it will overtake many pain medications but right now wall st and paid politicians won't let it happen. @JDVance don't you agree?

'We can't say vaping is safer than smoking". You don't say. None of the policymakers in Australia or so-called experts ever say that it is safer than smoking. They are too busy scaremongering the public and writing policy that diverts people to a dangerous black market or smoking
Ben Fordham Live@BenFordhamLive

A new study has found vaping is "likely" to cause cancer. Professor Bernard Stewart says “we can’t say vaping is safer than smoking.” Listen to his full conversation with Ben HERE. 🎧omny.fm/shows/ben-ford…🎧

California is the world leader in innovation, so it's a no-brainer Californians should benefit from a government that uses the best technology available. My executive order ensures AI is used responsibly, makes state services easier to access, and protects people's data.

@KenWBlair @war24182236 No one in my mind has done anything since Kennedy signed his Mental Act... Even California's Prop 63 was a disaster and took 20 years to change it. It will cost, all levels of government need to help and sadly for the American people that isn't going to happen.

@war24182236 The result of decades of federal government passing the responsibility to the State, and the State passing it to the County. It is all parties passing the buck with no bucks! Politicians care about themselves and $, not the American people. God help her and the hell she is in 💔

@Twolfrecovery @dscheinm @salvationarmysf Hard to believe the U.S. hasn’t built public housing since the 1970s. Add weak mental health support and rising poverty. I fear the growth in the non profit industry will continue to grow.

The majority of that money never gets to the homeless. It goes to non-profits who then pay salaries and "operational costs." In some NGOs as little as .17 cents for every dollar goes to services. I will say that @salvationarmysf, .85 cents per dollar goes to programs.

Stewart and Lynda Resnick are facing ongoing controversy over their ownership of water rights, particularly through their control of the Kern Water Bank in California, which holds up to 488 billion gallons of water.  Critics argue that their 57% stake—acquired in a 1994 deal known as the Monterey Agreement—amounts to privatizing a public resource, especially during prolonged droughts. The couple, founders of The Wonderful Company (which owns brands like POM Wonderful, Wonderful Pistachios, and Fiji Water), have been accused of hoarding water and exacerbating water scarcity, despite the company’s claim that it uses less than 1% of California’s total water supply.  The controversy intensified during the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires, when viral social media posts falsely claimed the Resnicks were blocking water needed to fight fires. Despite their philanthropy—such as a $90 million gift to LACMA and a $750 million donation to Caltech—the Resnicks have drawn criticism for environmental and labor practices. Their business model has been scrutinized for its heavy water use, especially on water-intensive crops like almonds and pistachios, and for alleged anti-union behavior. A documentary titled Pistachio Wars (2025) further explores these tensions, accusing the couple of “artwashing” environmental damage.

The company behind POM juice, a juice marketed as a superfood antioxidant-rich drink, was just named California’s 2nd-largest user of paraquat — one of the most toxic herbicides still allowed in the U.S. Over 56,000 pounds sprayed in a single year… on crops used to make this so called health drink. Paraquat has been linked to Parkinson’s disease, cancer, and neurological damage. It drifts into nearby communities and lingers in soil for years. More than 60 countries have already banned it. So why is it still being used here? Help us continue the work to get these chemicals out of our food supply. [momsacrossamerica.com/monthly_donati…]

This post is irresponsible and very regrettably misleading. This herbicide is used solely for weed control and never directly on fruit or trees. And it’s always done in full compliance with government approved label instructions. Your intent may be to ensure healthy and safe foods for our communities - it’s a mission we not only share but epitomize through some of the most sustainable farming practices in agriculture and our healthy brands. We hope your organization puts more energy towards companies that truly warrant scrutiny- and with accurate and reliable information that is alarmingly missing here.
