The majority of that money never gets to the homeless. It goes to non-profits who then pay salaries and "operational costs." In some NGOs as little as .17 cents for every dollar goes to services. I will say that @salvationarmysf, .85 cents per dollar goes to programs.

The company behind POM juice, a juice marketed as a superfood antioxidant-rich drink, was just named California’s 2nd-largest user of paraquat — one of the most toxic herbicides still allowed in the U.S. Over 56,000 pounds sprayed in a single year… on crops used to make this so called health drink. Paraquat has been linked to Parkinson’s disease, cancer, and neurological damage. It drifts into nearby communities and lingers in soil for years. More than 60 countries have already banned it. And it’s always done in full compliance with government approved label instructions. Your intent may be to ensure healthy and safe foods for our communities - it’s a mission we not only share but epitomize through some of the most sustainable farming practices in agriculture and our healthy brands. We hope your organization puts more energy towards companies that truly warrant scrutiny- and with accurate and reliable information that is alarmingly missing here.
