@mainbhiengineer @jaideepparasha7 This is a misconception. I've written less than 10-15 blogs, and even with 2-3 years of experience, used to get direct reach outs from EMs citing my blogs. If you build a brand, it certainly does pay off. It makes you more credible than someone with no presence.

@jaideepparasha7 Engineers are not like doctors or lawyers or CA, they don't have personal brand value apart from the company they work for

Meta is doing another round of layoffs, around 8000 employees. This is on top of around 22000 employees already laid off in last 4 years. Most of the companies doing layoffs have reported their highest profit recently, they're not loss making company, all they're doing is shifting money from traditional jobs to AI infrastructure and tools thinking that AI can deliver same works with 2 engineers that needed 10-15 earlier. We are witnessing the generational shift on how tech jobs will be done. Engineers will be remembered as developing a tech that took away their own jobs first.

@mkobach I generally put [Scheduled] at the beginning of the message and schedule and forget. This: - Notifies them at correct time, and ensures it is read once they are back in work mode. - Makes it clear I didn't send it right now, so it's not that urgent.

Work culture question: Is it okay to Slack someone after hours as long as the reply isn't expected until the next business day? Or better to just schedule it for 9am the next business day?

@Ajain112 Stepping out of the house feels like a war and you just hope you don't run into someone trying to loot you or fool you. That level of vigilance is not required in high trust societies. They function on trust.

@Ajain112 You are confusing sympathy with trust Today, whenever you step out of the house, everywhere you go you're afraid you'll get scammed. Petrol pumps tricks, restaurants serving fake paneer, property deal scams, taxis asking for 2x after reaching destination, etc Countless examples

My annual MRI scan gives me a USB stick with the data, but you need this commercial windows software to open it. Ran Claude on the stick and asked it to make me a html based viewer tool. This looks... way better.

@whyjuriswhy Lesson to teach our kids: The amount of money you make is directly proportional to the value you create. How hard you work doesn’t have anything to do with what you’ll earn. It used to be that way before the industrial age but not anymore.

someone should've told me this actually. law especially, even corporate law, pays peanuts to the hours that we put in in contrast to random tech jocks who have barely read a book in their lives. it's truly something.

@nullpointered Hearing stories from friends in PE and VCs, and from my own family's legacy businesses, makes me realize how I'd get absolutely cooked if I weren't in plain vanilla skills-in-demand employment.

@Olacabs support is the most unhelpful amongst all startups I’ve dealt with. I clearly sent them a proof, showing that the route they are showing in the app is not even there on the map. Moreover, it shows distance travelled as 41km within the city in 35 mins on a

There may be dozens more like me out their who think on similar lines that we can just let ₹300 go who will waste so much time. But that’s what these companies take advantage of. Their grevience cell is useless. In app support is non existent.

Low quality repairs, actually harming the equipment, scratching and scraping things are some of the reasons. Another one especially with AC technicians are their malicious behaviour. I’ve had AC guys repair one AC and remove the gas from another AC whose compressor (1/2)
Aarihant Aaryan@AarihantAaryan

It's a fascinating behaviour in India when a technician comes to your place to fix something and someone in the family is assigned to be with them until they fix it. This rarely happens in the west, it's a huge low trust behaviour
