The y-axis represents an index, with January 2, 2025, prices set at 100. I think this is a very insightful graph that shows the oversized impact of geopolitical events on refined/processed products compared to crude oil.

Just created this @VisualCap-inspired chart on US LNG. The US is exporting the "freedom fuel" to every corner of the LNG-importing world, supplying it to some 50 countries since the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Europe has accounted for 2/3 during the period; Asia expcted to grow!

@RichardMeyerDC Yes, the report lost me at “natural gas prices have led to year-to-year electricity price fluctuations.” I also didn’t see any discussion linking increased intermittent generation to rising T&D costs.

1. Russia's invasion of Ukraine did not "cause" U.S. natural gas prices to rise. Prices in the U.S. rose several months later due to domestic fundamentals. 2. As evidenced below, areas constrained by a lack of gas pipelines and storage have seen much higher prices.

3/ Earlier I mentioned that there’s zero correlation between renewables penetration and electricity prices. That’s not the case for natural gas. Russia's invasion of Ukraine caused gas prices to rise quickly. Many Americans are still paying the price.

It's hard to overstate just how much energy natural gas storage delivers across time, especially on peak days.

NVIDIA CEO: • China way ahead on energy • U.S. way ahead on chips • China competitive on infrastructure • China competitive on AI models • China way ahead in open-source models • U.S. frontier models better overall • China has lighter industrial regulation • China applications advancing fast • China’s society adopts new technology faster • China has the larger government supplied non-internet training data • U.S. companies and society need to adopt AI faster The race is real and the US needs to counter each advantage, rapidly.

How much have #electricityprices risen across all sectors in each state since 2005? California tops the list, followed by Hawaii and the New England states. Nevada--despite bordering California--saw the lowest growth during this period. @EPRINC_DC

My new analysis of the CO2 impact of US LDVs on global emissions. I believe this is a particularly relevant piece given EPA's recent proposal to rescind the endangerment finding. We'll issue a short report on this, with the full methodology and assumptions.

Banning gas cars in the US would make basically no difference to the climate, but it would make a lot of people mad. Via: @EPRINC_DC

CHINA AGREES TO DRASTICALLY INCREASE GAS IMPORTS FROM RUSSIA 🇨🇳🤝🇷🇺 🏗️ Gazprom inked a binding pact to build the Power of Siberia 2 gas pipeline to China, the biggest one yet for the country 🚨 This comes as Russia needs new buyers to replace Europe, and China cuts US imports
