1/18 AHA 2023: OK folks, the days are over when very few people tweeted about Lp(a), but no everyone is doing it 😀. Nonetheless, one still needs interpretation than simple reporting- so here goes my view of AHA.

@jakescottMD @florian_krammer For vaccinated. I have a hard time believing this is less virulent. Also interested in how much protection prior infection with delta offers.

Why we care about correlates: Correlates are immune responses that allow us to predict whether or not a vaccine will be effective. Identifying these responses can mean faster vaccine approval and better understanding of how vaccines work. 2/ nytimes.com/2020/12/04/hea…

Excited to finally share our results of the immune correlates of protection of the Moderna vaccine. A short thread walking through some of the key results. 1/ medrxiv.org/content/10.110…

15 Tweet THREAD on current cases & trajectory: Cases this week have been bit lower than many expected (inc me!). Have we peaked? Here are my thoughts for what they're worth... TLDR: lots of possible things combining. I don't think this is the peak.

Person to be infected are 3 times that of someone vaccinted in May. Possible caveats are geographical spread (the outbreak did not spread to areas in which people got the shots late) and that people who are less healthy were prioritized. Same trend is seen with the young.

My colleagues @hillaalroy and @Meir_Marciano have tonight published the data leading the Israeli MoH to suspect that @pfizer vaccine's immunity is waning. In this graph, you can see infections and hospitalizations in the last 3 weeks, normalized. Chances of a January vaccinnated

(8/8) This “promising” phase 2 study will be taken as justification for moving on to a phase 3 trial as with all other anti-amyloid drugs. More lives are yet to be harmed on the unending pursuit inspired by our blind allegiance to anti-amyloid strategies.

We mapped how all mutations to #SARSCoV2 receptor-binding domain (RBD) affect recognition by convalescent polyclonal human sera (biorxiv.org/content/10.110…). Among implications: E484K (South African lineage) worrying for immune escape; RBD mutations in UK lineage less so (1/n).
