34 years of left and 15yrs of TMC rule that kept Kolkata far behind than cities like Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bangalore in real estate prices has ended now. Now buying real estate in Kolkata would be a great idea. It may soon make up for multi decade of poor returns.

We are likely to have harder times in India (economically speaking). The politicians have figured out the magic formula of winning elections -- even with negative economic progress. Economy, jobs, living standards used to be the focal point of elections. Now, no more. There is no political pressure anymore to pursue good economics. Honestly, not many would bother even if we have de-facto direct taxation at 50%. You can come cry on Twitter. And, go away :) Poor economics= few opportunities= fewer jobs= lower wealth. The writing is there on the wall. The sooner you see it, the sooner you can rework your investment strategies.

2029 is for BJP. They have won the most difficult state WB and have created history in 2026. BJP will rule WB minimum one decade, may be two.

There is a set pattern: 1. Elections are announced after Modi visits and announcements in states. 2. For crucial states, elections are always split into two phases, so that on the day of voting in phase 1, Modi can rally in phase 2 areas. 3. Counting happens at least 4 days later. 4. Vote counting happens at the same time for all states, irrespective of whether one state's election was held one month earlier.

Sunday musing: A friend raises a good point: why do we need 4 days @ECISVEEP after final voting for counting to begin? Think about Kerala and Assam: EVMs have been kept in strong rooms for almost 4 weeks. Doesn’t happen in any other part of the world.

If India remains poor, the woke left will give us moral lectures with pity and the hard right, different moral lectures with scorn ("hellhole") and we must not confuse either with respect. Respect in today's world, along with prosperity and security, comes from one source: a nation's technological prowess. India produces sufficient brain power to achieve that prowess but alas we exported so much of that talent, particularly to America. Mamata is the last real defender of that classic Congress style secular politics. Once she is gone, there is nobody left. The politics of DMK is 180 degrees opposite to the politics of Congress. Rahul, Akhilesh, and Tejashwi simply do not have the guts to stand up to the massive machinery of BJP. All the shouting, drama stirring, and revolutionary cosplay does not achieve a damn thing. This new Aadhaar card is being designed with privacy and security as the main objectives. Old Aadhaar vs New Aadhaar — Key Differences What will the new Aadhaar card look like? Only the following will be visible on the card: ✔️ Photo ✔️ QR code The following details that were on the old Aadhaar will no longer be visible: ❌ Name ❌ Aadhaar number ❌ Address ❌ Date of birth ❌ Gender This means that no personal information will be printed on the card.
