It’s imperative that we revert to STANDARD, not Daylight time, for two reasons, one of which you may have never considered. You know the first: solar noon is closest to 12 o’clock all year. That means an equal number of hours before and after noon each day. This also means earlier sunrises which are significantly better for establishing a healthy circadian rhythm. The second reason is that nearly ONE THIRD of US counties are in the wrong timezone. A significant swath of the country isn’t only an artificial hour ahead because of daylight time… but TWO HOURS ahead of true solar time. Year-round daylight time, especially without recalibrating time zones, would establish this error permanently, affecting millions of Americans. We should be letting the Sun dictate the day the way God made it. Arbitrary, artificial tampering would be worse for us all. Fix the time zones and affix standard time.

@CatNyanpital what are these figures? Spending about $6-7 every month on TP?! I mean, sure, a large pack might cost that, but personally? I probably only go through a large pack once or twice a YEAR

@fendigaid @DukeHerndon Because the women are wearing makeup that adds 5+ years to their age. Most western makeup makes young women look older.

@DukeHerndon The stark physical difference between young men and young women of the same age is severely understated. Relationships with significant age gaps are very obviously biologically advantageous.

@KingTerpene @financedystop If they want to charge $26 for a burger be transparent about it rather than nickle and diming so it adds up to $26 in the end.

@financedystop Restaurants typically operate on less than 5% margin. For them to pay the servers even $1 more per hour, they will have to raise their prices. They are choosing to itemize that as a service charge. It sounds like you would rather pay $26 for a burger.

USCIS is applying long-standing law and prior court decisions to require certain aliens with temporary visas who decide they want to permanently reside in the U.S. to return to their home countries to apply for permanent visas through the @StateDept. We're returning to the original intent of the law to ensure aliens navigate our nation’s immigration system properly. Here’s what you should know: uscis.gov/newsroom/news-…

@Cernovich And in the Trump didn’t support mass deportations and decided to take it easy and only go after criminals. It was all for nought. Massie was right to avoid the debt for no benefit.

2024-2025 is a razor’s narrow GOP majority, and Massie needed to be a team player on OBBB. AIPAC will claim the scalp and the other side will blame Israel for buying an election. Yet almost all of Trump’s posts were about ICE funding (OBBB) and overall “disloyalty” to Trump.

@1Andrew_J @PfPopulist Maybe they are. Fortunately it's a lot easier to adjust districts within a state than state borders themselves. But there are absolutely some state borders that should be adjusted for more fair representation.

@PfPopulist In the 1984 Presidential election, Reagan won every state except Minnesota giving him 98% of all electoral college seats. Mondale got 40% of the vote, are the states gerrymandered because 40% of the vote got 2% of the electoral college seats?

@vampirecrusader Not actually. Trans people only make up 0.8% of the population and that’s including all colors. Which means that white trans people don’t even make a dent in that statistic.

@Si33406 @AnechoicMedia_ A safe and fast way to get point to point. Cats are generally still faster than taking the train as the start and end stations aren’t where they should be, and they’re filled with the type of people I’d like to avoid for my own safety.

@AnechoicMedia_ When you guys say this do you think it's an effective argument for more lanes rather than trains? As if trains are an inefficient expansion of capacity compared to bigger high ways? What purpose of expansion do trains (and other piblic transport) fail to meet?

When you look into "induced demand" what they actually mean is that when you expand capacity, over time more people move into an area until traffic reaches the same equilibrium before. If you think the purpose of expanding infrasturcture is to support more people, this is working as intended. If you think the purpose of expansion is to make your individual commute faster, you will be disappointed.

@fudokun7 @StatisticUrban If you're in a relationship for a long time but aren't married it implies a hesitancy to commit fully. Which would also be the reason to charge rent (and not have shared ownership of the house).

@StatisticUrban i feel like this is something you would do with a roommate rather than a friend tho if you're in a relationship for long enough time to move in together, you don't charge her rent, you just ask her to cover some or most of the other utilities.
