I’ve been working on a secret art project for Radiohead over the last year. 8,000 fragments and ephemera from the Kid A and Amnesiac recording sessions, transformed into a an audio-visual cinema installation called “Motion Picture House.”We just launched in a bunker built 30 ft underground at Coachella, then will be going on tour for next year. It’s hard to put into words what it’s been like to work with your childhood heroes. As the credits rolled with my name included, I felt a myriad of emotions but mostly gratitude for the strange loops in our lives that (ideally) return us to ourselves again and again. I deeply recall the teenage me standing in the pouring rain at their concert at Merriweather Pavilion. My mom had packed me a to-go container of spaghetti (odd choice, I know) and I stood in the rain and ate spaghetti and let myself feel something. That’s what this experience means to me and what I hope this will be for those who attend: permission to connect to the parts of yourself that aren’t quite sure where things have all landed or where they might be going.

SquiggleDAO
SquiggleDAO@squiggleDAO·
SquiggleDAO is finally announcing the secret project we've been working on with @Pakmanscoop and @ArtOnBlockchain. The Squiggle Display Station! 📺 We’ve seen significant success with art that creates a memorable experience. As younger generations become increasingly disengaged in traditional museum settings, immersive and experiential exhibitions have grown rapidly in popularity. We believe it’s important to offer a way to experience the Squiggle interactively, without altering the artwork itself and highlighting its artistic significance. To bring this vision into the physical world, we partnered with Hash Inc and Snowfro. Snowfro has been working on the hardware side for some time, and recently succeeded in porting the Chromie Squiggles script to C++ allowing us to run them on a Raspberry Pi. This breakthrough made it possible to integrate his work directly into the Display Station, allowing the project to come to life. Snowfro was pivotal in creating the electrical and software components of the Display Station. This wouldn’t have been possible without his contribution and hardware advancements. How it works: - The display station arrives ready to install, requiring only a few panels to be screwed together. It includes two cords: a power cable and an HDMI cable, allowing it to connect to virtually any screen. - Users can adjust the speed, change the background color, and enter any Squiggle type and hypervariant as the original artist's traits. To respect the owners of each Squiggle, we have received approval from many owners to display over 3000 Squiggles. When selecting a Squiggle type it will generate a random Squiggle from that approved list. Instead of typing numbers, we focused on the types of Squiggles in order to emphasize its importance and variety. - The display station creates an interactive experience that helps audiences better understand the artwork. Many people are unaware that the Squiggle moves, and even fewer realize that both the background color and speed can change. This interactive setup allows viewers to explore these intricacies firsthand, making it one of the most memorable ways to experience, learn and engage with the art. Our goal is to convince museums to install these for exhibitions and if we're lucky enough, to have them as permanent displays so their audience can always interact with the Squiggle.

No matter how amazing Node weekend was and how motivating other IRL events like this can be that make you think “we will make it”, don’t forget to take a step back every once in a while to see that overall our web3 space as a whole is still struggling pretty significantly. Digital art and other web3 platforms are shutting down in pretty rapid succession. Companies are restructuring to smaller teams to save cash. VC raises are failing and more scarce. Art sales are very concentrated to “grail” artists while other artists continue to struggle. Our tech is at all time highs with wallet abstraction tools and crypto/fiat payment solutions but execution is not penetrating and sticking to more mass consumers. Interestingly as far as platforms go, @Courtyard_io I feel was really the only major success story of the last 2-3 years. They perfectly executed how to use the tech available to break into mass markets and created a flywheel for generating huge revenues. Simple onboarding via email. Great looking UI/UX. Simple loyalty system. Internal marketplace. Showing up to web2 conferences. Amazing flow for tokenization of physical collectibles via secured and insured vaults. All without much crypto or blockchain talk on the platform or on socials. They even spurred a huge handful of platforms with similar mechanics that are also pretty successful like @Beezie @ArenaClub @phygitals @ripdotfun @Collector_Crypt @powerpacks and many more @rektdrinks is also coming to mind is as a more recent success story. Digital art on its own is a bit of a niche area and not necessarily related to something like a Courtyard or a Rekt Drinks but I firmly believe that they showed us how a web3 native company can be very successful in a tough market Keep your heads up and keep building. Think outside the box a little if you feel stuck. Look at the other success stories around you for inspiration. Monologue over

Day 2, continued. Last night in Palo Alto we joined the opening of @nodefnd , the nonprofit founded by @mickymalka and Becky Kleiner, marking the inauguration of NODE’s new 12,000-square-foot exhibition space dedicated to digital art and blockchain culture. At the core of the opening was “10,000”, the exhibition celebrating the complete CryptoPunks collection - the legendary work by @larvalabs Matt Hall and John Watkinson - curated by Amanda Schmitt @ASAcurates and produced by Natalie Stone @NaughtalieStone . Complementing the exhibition, the opening also featured “Diffuse Control”, an installation by @beeple . A powerful moment of community, experienced together with our collectors! Congrats everyone for the beginning of this new adventure!!

the godfathers are happy. 😊
Larva Labs@larvalabs

10,000 at NODE Foundation has been an incredibly special experience for us. From the beginning, CryptoPunks was an experiment in digital value and ownership - a new kind of networked art and protocol. CryptoPunks has been shaped over time by the people who hold it, trade it, argue about it, and build culture around it. This exhibition is our clearest attempt to present this thesis in material form and physical space. We’re deeply grateful to @mickymalka and Becky Kleiner for building a home for CryptoPunks and a space capable of supporting work like this, and for @redbeardnft for facilitating this opportunity with @nodefnd. Thank you @asacurates, @philmohun, @loudsqueakmedia, @q2design, @yungwknd for your curation, creativity, and skills in bringing our nerdiest of visions to life. And of course to @naughtaliestone who worked closely with us to develop the exhibition and bring this all together. We’re excited for everyone to see it, especially the CryptoPunks community, whose passion for the work has carried this project far beyond anything we could have imagined. — Matt Hall & John Watkinson (Larva Labs)
