We just did the first google CTF, and my team mate bypassed the entire challenge by reading `/proc/1/environ`. I can't stop laughing. We were supposed to do the SQL injection attack.

I think this shows the PITA with chat apps today is _not_ lack of common network protocol (like SMTP), but lack of agreed *storage* formats/conventions. If we could enforce stronger separation between the apps logic vs data storage, we would be able to switch apps easier.
