A brief toilet story: Last night at M&S cafe: both female and accessible loos broken. I arrived for the loo at the same time as a Dad and his two young girls. We both realised we all had to use the men’s loo. But the scheme was obvious to both of us, without handwringing: He went in and confirmed it was empty. He returned and sent me and one of his girls in, saying he would guard the outside door. I returned just after said child and looked at Easter eggs with her while he went in with the other. Adults are perfectly capable of sensible public loo use in an emergency 🤣

As a caregiver to two parents with dementia, I can hardly think about what I look like these days. In fact, I am often shocked when I catch my reflection. My priorities have shifted. If I had energy for my presentation to the world my roots wouldn't show, I would wear makeup, get my nails done regularly, and wear cuter outfits. I am crashing out in sweats moat days. But this sex mimic sits next to his wife while she is in the toughest struggle of her life and talks about how frightening it would be if he lost control over how he dresses due to being diagnosed. Everything is always about them. His poor wife. There is no empathy for her. Her disease is simply the gateway for her husband to start cross-dressing full-time because she hasn't got the mental capacity to object and she is stuck. This is what being held captive by a sex mimic husband looks like.

On my way to ikea and I’ve accidentally come to a gorgeous rooftop bar overlooking Regent Street instead. Haven’t been here for a few years. Used to be a tiny standing only rooftop, but they’ve expanded it nicely. A perfect place to sit with a wine in the sunshine. IKEA can wait.

Trans women on HRT experience hot flashes, breast development, fat redistribution, and muscle atrophy that cis men simply don't. We're physically closer to cis women than our former selves. If you actually cared about "biological reality," you'd acknowledge hormones drive these characteristics, not chromosomes. You don't check anyone's karyotype before treating them as their observed sex. Treat trans women as women (because we are) and stop being an asshole.
