Context is important. That verse is a promise to Israel in the new covenant context, in response to repentance and turning from sin. It's what God does to those who enter the new covenant by faith. 18 chapters earlier Ezekiel writes "... get a new heart and a new spirit". Acts 2:38, 3:19 state that you need to repent and believe and THEN receive the gift of the Spirit.

The illustration is so dumb That’s a physically dead man who in the illustration didn’t know Jesus. That man is not going to be with the Lord. He died without knowing the Lord. “BUT LAZARUS!” Lazarus was a believer who physically died and was physically brought back to life. Calvinism is so stupid…

@maxamir @BornAgainBalaky "In the day" doesn't mean "instant physical death". yom has a range of meanings. Spiritual death doesn't mean total inability. Cain was warned he could "do what is right" in Gen 4:7. Prevenient grace is given to all.

I will never understand the intuition that allowing humans to make decisions on their own is "making man out to be God" or somehow diminishing God in any way. Why must God control everything you do to be God? That doesn't make any sense.

@britterm @ronhenzel @rootcausesleuth God does know that married bachelors do not exist. In fact, He knows that the phrase "married bachelors" is just an incoherent combination of words that have no meaning. So, yes. God knows everything and is not limited in His knowledge.

The fact that God created a logically coherent universe in which inherent contradictions cannot exist and therefore cannot be “known” in any rational sense doesn’t “limit God’s knowledge.” Rather, it calls into question the rationality of anyone who claims that it does.

@rootcausesleuth @ronhenzel If we define a limitation as any condition, boundary, or rule that dictates what a being can or cannot know, then logical contradictions are, by definition, a boundary/limitation. If God cannot know that a square is a circle, then His knowledge is limited by logic.

@ronhenzel I’m saying that he agrees there are limits to God’s knowledge. And I’m saying that affirming that God can’t know absurd or untrue things is still acknowledging a limit to his knowledge.

I don't think this is talking about a historical rebellion. It's apocalyptic imagery describing Satan's attempts to thwart God's plan of redemption. Rev 12 is about Christ's birth, where Satan is looking to devour Him but instead He is "caught up to God and his throne". The stars falling represent Satan's forces (angelic and human perhaps)... and God's victory. The sobering thought is that if you don't submit to God's word, you will be cast down, regardless of status.

@_jonbowlin When a person disregards the Jew-centric nature of the Second Coming-- likely because of Supersessionist Covenant Theology-- that person no longer has any compass regarding God's method using authentic covenants and the words of the prophets. It really comes down to this.

The 1,000 year reign is a literal period of time. The time of Christs first advent to His second is a literal period of time. Postmill and Amill do interpret the 1,000 years literally. We just disagree with Premill on the timing :)
