🚨 Trans activist at Seattle City Hall just attacked me and stole my hat after I was repeatedly pushed, grabbed, and blocked. “Take it! Take it! Steal it!” Militants repeatedly told me I wasn’t safe at City Hall. Katie Wilson refuses to reign in trans violence in her city.

Imagine your child, parent, or loved one getting a life altering diagnosis, and the first thing they have to think about is money. Not if it could save their life - just if they can afford it. That is what we accept as normal in this country. Medicare for All would end that. Every single person covered. No exceptions. 💜

@DivestSPD There are other reasons people live on the streets while the government pays for their (unused) home. It’s a legit issue in Seattle and KCRHA opposes landlords calling these unlived in units abandoned. Another example is the lady from the Ballard encampment Wilson put in tnyhome

These clowns treat a hoarder (rare type of OCD), who can’t stay inside because her apartment is full of stuff, like she’s typical of homeless people. Choe feigns concern while trying to get her to say she’s on “fetty” (she doesn’t). Sick, depraved people.
Brandi Kruse@BrandiKruse

Anyone who tells you homelessness is a housing crisis is just a flat-out liar. Here is a woman living on the streets of Seattle despite having a TAXPAYER FUNDED APARTMENT just blocks away.

@SukritGanesh @buildhomez Market rate units will be emptying quickly once the amenities are removed because of the SSHD’s unfortunate choice of the first residents. I don’t see their coffee machine sticking around. And their “rooftop” area is going to have to change. Why pay market rent and live there?

@buildhomez This is good though - it doesn't cost the city any money (revenue neutral due to the market-rate units), it's far cheaper and quicker than building BMR from scratch, and it's mixed-income rather than 100% BMR.

Congratulations to the current tenants of this building! They get frozen rent and get to run an organization that gets 50M per year. Not the mayor, the city council, but the tenants of this building control everyone’s money!

BREAKING: The Seattle Social Housing Developer has announced its first acquisition, a 150-unit apartment building near Pike Place Market in downtown Seattle, for the cost of $60.9 million. It plans to convert half the units to be affordable for low and middle-income tenants.

@DivestSPD @Gramsterwheel We’ve tried your “solution” for 21 years in Seattle. Why are you so opposed to new ones? I don’t agree with jail but the Seattle left opposes discussion about actual solutions to our homelessness so don’t know what we are left with

@Gramsterwheel How many open jail beds do you think are in this state? How many in King County even? None of you will ever admit that your “solution” is unworkable as it would require the state to spend every dollar earmarked for hospitals, roads, basic services, etc.

It costs $70,000 a year to “house” someone in jail. That’s just below the median income in Seattle—and there are drugs in jail. If you proposed giving someone $200 a day these people would flip. But spend that much to punish them: totally fine.

@benmaritz @buildhomez Weyerhaeuser had that issue in Aberdeen. None of the managers wanted to live there. So there was no one in leadership fighting to keep the mills open. People in Aberdeen bragged about how white collar people didn’t want to live there. Then they lost jobs.

One thing I don’t get, is why don’t normal large companies in HCOL cities just always move to LCOL cities entirely? Why have a Seattle based accountant instead of a Nashville based one? Regardless of tax policy

@hannahkrieg @gregorykennedy If you want to look at it solely on elections it dipped after Sawant won recall. It went up when the left got booted in 2023. It then plummeted when the far left won the council and mayor elections. That's simplistic but if you're just wanting to look at who is in office.

@hannahkrieg @gregorykennedy Startups form where people are optimistic about the future. Wilson has said multiple anti-business and startup things. She has said it would be good if there were less tech people in Seattle. Vibes matter when you're taking a risk in building a future in a city.

@benmaritz @loganb What is saddest is they have actually done a lot. I’ve seen the city spend a lot of time and resources in Little Saigon. But they aren’t willing to do what’s needed so it’s just wasted money for the most part.

@loganb The decade of inaction in Little Saigon is a disgrace on all of us. It’s gotten to the point now where it’s “always been that way” and we get to feel good about ourselves for doing nothing because we are respecting the autonomy of the local community

One of the problems with progressive-socialism being mostly the politics of wealthy white people, is that they smuggle in the interests of the affluent under the guise of equity, and place all the homeless shelters far away from themselves. Local “right wing” media noticed, lmao
Charlie Harger, KIRO Newsradio@KIROCharlie

This morning's commentary is about how the city and its elected leaders keep placing these shelters and villages in the poorest neighborhoods. They don't have the means to fight back. Can you imagine the uproar if this happened in Magnolia? Story👇

On her first day in office she called for a boycott of Starbucks! That'd be enough for ALL the other large businesses to start location shopping in other states, but to the Starbucks CEO she is telling him she's his opponent. Her increasing taxes affects Starbucks' bottom line which will need to be explained to the board and shareholders etc. Christ, she has staff jump in if she's asked a question that isn't pre planned making you wonder who is in charge. I just wonder who was stupid enough to vote for her in the first place
