At Apple there was a QA guy who made our build system run thousands of unit tests during every incremental build. It was the most frustrating shit in the universe and nobody could convince him that it was stupid.

The leadership of Rocky Linux, which was created as a replacement for CentOS, has made the weirdest statement regarding Age Verification: “Effective immediately, all Rocky Linux packaging will include a "Fun For All Ages" sticker.” With a link to Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up.” This statement was made on April 1st. rockylinux.org/news/rocky-lin…

What a ridiculous statement - decades of open source, conferences, papers, tutorials, guides, etc. Free compilers, os, docs, etc too. Billion dollar software sitting open on github for anyone to read and learn from. One of the most un-gate-kept industries on earth. These people are so unserious.
Rohan Paul@rohanpaul_ai

Software used to be gated by roughly 20 million professional developers up until last year. Good ideas still needed engineers, co-founders, time, and months of app work. Now, anyone can build. ~ Wabi CEO Eugenia Kuyda

@a16z Maybe the lack of introspection was always present 🤔 Are we really confusing quantity with quality now?

Marc Andreessen: Software isn't precious anymore. In this new world, high quality software is infinitely available. "We've always lived in a world in which software is this precious thing that you have to think about very carefully." "It was really hard to generate good software, and there was only a small number of people who could do it." "Those days are just over." "If you need new software to do X, Y, or Z, you're just going to wave your hand and get it." "Things that used to be hard, or even seem like an insurmountable mountain to get through, all of a sudden, I think, become very easy." @pmarca with @latentspacepod

🆕 Marc Andreessen’s 2026 AI Thesis: Agents, Open Source, and Why This Time Is Different latent.space/p/pmarca @pmarca of @a16z says AI people keep swinging between utopian and apocalyptic for one simple reason: this field has been “almost here” for 80 years. But now, the breakthroughs are no longer theoretical. Reasoning, coding, agents, and self-improvement are all starting to work at once. This episode goes deep on AI winters, OpenAI + OpenClaw, infrastructure overbuild risk, proof-of-human, why software may soon be written mostly for bots, and why the real bottleneck may be society adopting AI rather than the models improving.

@dhh Battery improvements on newer Intel chips with Linux support are genuinely impressive. Running Linux natively for backend dev is still different from macOS — tooling friction dropped a lot but the hardware lottery remains real. Omarchy making this more accessible is a win.

Dell XPS 14 IPS with Panther Lake on Omarchy 3.5 is a battery monster. 28h 30m left with just a 61% battery?? That's 46 hours on a full charge(!!!). Portal to another world indeed.

Let's see how many tech journalists in addition to @LundukeJournal will cover this. The #Linux hobbyist community needs to wake up and say "no thanks" to "contributions" from Big Tech influenced outlets taking money from governments, IBM, Red Hat, Microsoft, Meta, etc.
