With due respect @KiryowaKk , sovereignty of the people is not limited to elections! A Constitution must be read as a whole. Article 1 must be read together with Articles 17, 38, 42, 72, 126, etc. Citizens participation in their governance is a continuous engagement. If this was your basis of proposing the #SovereigntyBillUG, please recall it for review #RejectSovereigntyBill

Why did you delete this post, @ubctvuganda?! The point is valid. @KagutaMuseveni has been one of the most consequential post-colonial African leaders. Fact! The only problem is he's been so interested in Africa, giving lectures about its history & how things could have been better etc that in the end, it seems he was left with limited time to apply that in Uganda, his actual mandate for the last four decades. So, you don't even have to look keenly to see that whatever problem he's diagnosed and done a thorough prognosis for in Africa is a problem Uganda has twice in magnitude…

@ubctvuganda @MoICT_Ug @KabbyangaB Before you tell Ugandans what their responsibilities are, start by reminding the current president of his responsibilities. Everyone serving this government is complicit in their evil deeds.

➡️The collective outrage over the Ggaba toddlers proved one thing: we still know how to be human. But the subsequent silence regarding Nakibuuka Irene proves something much darker: we have decided whose lives are worth mourning. ➡️Irene was 22. She was abducted by masked men, held incommunicado for a month, and subjected to "unidentified injections" and waterboarding. She didn't die from "natural causes". She succumbed to the trauma of state-sponsored torture over the Easter weekend. ➡️Where is the viral condemnation from the clergy? Where is the "immediate concern" from across the political divide? When we treat the abduction of NUP-affiliated citizens as a lesser crime, we are telling the world that some Ugandans are second-class humans. 🔴You cannot claim to value life while staying silent when the state is the one taking it. Accountability isn't optional. Irene’s life mattered.

What we know about 22 year old Nakibuuka Irene that died yesterday; on March 9th, @yubdenis1 shared a TikTok video where Irene was saying she was kidnapped by security officers on January 15, the day Uganda went to the polls. She said she was found with other girls talking about the elections and three of them where taken to an unknown place by masked army officers. Irene said they were injected with unknown substances, made to spent nights in water and were kept naked. She said they were released on Feb 14. She repeated this exact same story when @AgoraCFR interviewed her on March 13, after some Ugandans contributed money and @yubdenis1 and I coordinated her travel to Mulago. In Mulago, so many tests were carried out but unfortunately she ran way from the hospital before some results came out and didn’t see any point of continuing with treatment. She had given up on life. The results that had already come out showed; Newly Diagnosed ISS,ART (meaning someone just diagnosed with HIV and hasn't been initiated on ARVs yet). 2-Pulmonary TB Ass/with Gross pleural effusion and moderate Ascites 3-kaposi sarcoma. We hadn’t independently verified what she said nor do we know whether she contracted those illnesses after being kidnapped or if the conditions she was kept in simply aggravated already existing conditions.

She’s dead! For them it’s just politics, for another family it is a loved one gone - just because she held a different political opinion! How do you expect others to feel your pain when you are directly killing their own! Can we ever have peace where we’ve inflicted such pointless permanent pain on others? Would you pretend to be angry when such innocent people you’ve harmed and hurt celebrate your own pain?

Today we share the profiles of some of the people killed at Muwanga Kivumbi’s home on Jan 16. 32 year old Sarah Naggayi. She was his campaign agent from Ndese Village. Survivors say Sarah was the first to put her hands up in surrender when the army raided. She was instead shot in the head. #SpotlightOnUgElection26
