@511Alberta can the Province please get some plows out on Deerfoot southbound between Country Hills Blvd and downtown? It's a gong show out there.

@xLanceBryantx @JeromyYYC That's not how property taxes are calculated. The only way that would matter is if your property value increased but nobody else's did. The value of your property compared to all other properties is used as a ratio to calculate your share. That's it.

This is obscene. The kicker is that the worst of it was the over all property value increase also plays a huge part of the increases. I guess I should be happy that my property doubled in value over the last 10 years. Right? except I don't plan to sell and I don't want to move... My tax bill basically tripled over the course of 10 years. Thanks Alberta! Thanks Canada! Thanks Calgary!

The provincial government has just imposed the largest property tax increase on Calgarians in history. In 2026, Alberta is increasing its share of your property tax bill by 21.05%. Nearly 42% of every residential property tax dollar now goes directly to the Province, and the City is legally required to collect this massive tax increase. For a typical $706,000 home: 🔺 Province: +$339 🔹 City: +$49 We did our work to restrain spending while focusing on safety and core infrastructure. The City’s increase is 1.81%. The total increase is about $388, with the overwhelming majority driven by the Province. Check your estimate at calgary.ca/taxcalculator.

AB royalty reliance up in 2026. Need ~27% of budget to come from resources to balance, or $4.3k/person. A comparison: Kenney (ex covid): $3.1k (adj for inf.) Notley: $3.5k Redford/etc: $3.1k Stelmach: $4k Klein: $2k Getty: $4.9k <- we're back here🚨 Lougheed: $4.2k #ableg

Unbelievably manipulative and false article from @NYTimes. These claims that detainees, including individuals with HIV, are denied medication is false. Not only was the medication provided, but ICE provides COMPREHENSIVE medical, dental, and mental health care from the moment an alien enters custody – INCLUDING 24/7 access to emergency care. Ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of individuals in our custody is a maximum priority. All detainees are provided with proper meals, water, medical treatment, have opportunities to communicate with their family members and lawyers. Along with this, all detainees receive full due process and are NEVER denied emergency care. Heidy Loja, mentioned in the article, was lawfully arrested by @ICEgov. She was released following an order by an activist judge. The two illegal immigrants who passed away at the Camp East Montana detention facility, Geraldo Lunas Campos and Victor Manuel Diaz, were both provided with emergency medical care. Campos, a criminal illegal alien and convicted child sex predator, attempted to take his own life while he was detained at the Camp East Montana detention facility. The security staff immediately intervened to save his life, but Campos violently resisted the security staff and continued to attempt to take his life. During the ensuing struggle, Campos stopped breathing and lost consciousness. Medical staff was immediately called and repeatedly attempted to resuscitate him. EMTs declared him deceased on the scene. This is still an active investigation, and more details are forthcoming. Victor Manuel Diaz, a 36-year-old illegal alien from Nicaragua, was found unconscious and unresponsive in his room by contract security staff at Camp East Montana. They immediately notified contract medical staff on site to conduct life saving measures. He died of a presumed suicide; however, the official cause of his death remains under investigation. We make official notifications to Congress, nongovernmental organization stakeholders and the media upon official reports of in-custody alien deaths and posts news releases with relevant details on ICE’s public website. We are committed to ensuring that all those in custody reside in safe, secure and humane environments. The deceitful narrative that the media pushes cannot withstand the facts of each case.

I am deeply disappointed by what is heard in this recording. Teachers have a duty to remain professional and politically neutral in the classroom. Students are there to learn math, language, science and critical thinking based on the approved curriculum, not to be subjected to profanity, partisan attacks, or insults toward Alberta’s ethical energy workers and their families. Our classrooms must be places of respect where every student, and every family, feels welcome regardless of their political views or where they work.

EXCLUSIVE CLASSROOM AUDIO: Alberta teacher at St André Bessette Catholic School caught on tape swearing, belittling conservatives, promoting the Alberta NDP, and mocking people who work in our energy sector in front of students.

@deep_6ix @ABDanielleSmith The teacher can say whatever he wants on his free time when his is not working. But the taxpayer pays him to teach the curriculum without preaching politics in class. If he can't do his job he should be fired.

@ABDanielleSmith " where every student, and every family, feels welcome regardless of their political views or where they work"... unless they're females over 12, gay, trans, disabled, poor, or not a family of UCP voters, it seems.

Danielle Smith tried to sell her federal-Alberta energy deal to the UCP convention crowd: tepid applause. She told them that this proved Canada work well for Alberta: loud boos. This ain’t a base that wants Smith to work with a Liberal PM on a better industrial carbon tax.

@OrphWettenhall @maxfawcett They always find something to whine about. But after 30 years of watching politics, here’s what I’ve learned: Liberals attack reputation and character. It’s always some sneer like, “Eww, his plane “ Conservatives focus on policy. Maybe that’s why we lose more often.

@n_droo_yu_el My favourite from the engagement was the mention of 3 LRT stations "within walking distance", but they're not actually on the map, and GL isn't coming north anytime in the next decade, let alone as far as Aurora.

@SonyaSharpYYC @commfirstyyc Whats @commfirstyyc plan for the North? Cuz Green Line isn’t it. Cllr @cllrandrechabot said that the transit capacity issues are in the North in his close today, NOT the SE. 44% of bus overloads city-wide occur on route 3 and 301 up Centre Street. This alignment is shortsighted.

@john_cyclesmart @DKTPH @stphnmaher 1. You're ignoring the *facts*. Don't worry, they'll come out in court. The discovery alone should be fascinating. 2. Where did I say anything about anyone being the best of a bad bunch? Oh, that's right, I didn't.

The Alberta NDP is calling for the premier and ministers LaGrange and Williams to "step aside" while allegations reported by the Globe & Mail are investigated. NDP want RCMP, ethics commissioner, auditor general to probe, as well as a judicial lead public inquiry. #ableg #cdnpoli

@stphnmaher AB has the best performing health care system in the country. Perhaps there is another side of this story and that reform is hard and organized labour is bigger - and louder - than the government sometimes. This needs daylight for sure and should be a story, but facts first.
