@cachedeposits @ThroneScience If she was on X, things would be different.
Also she knows it’s coming so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Life update for my long lost friends 👋
I started @ThroneScience back in 2023.
We’re building towards the smoke detector for colon cancer, and it’s safe to say I’ve found my calling.
We have an incredible team, including: the cofounder/CTO of WHOOP, the most-followed GI doc on the internet, and medical advisors who literally author clinical guidelines followed by every doctor in the country.
We launched our v1 product in March after ~3 yrs of R&D. It tracks gut health, hydration, and prostate health, automatically.
The AI-powered Gut Health Coach we just shipped this week helps you understand *what* causes disruptions to *your* digestion.
And we’re making real progress on the smoke detector for colon cancer mission — we’re able to find microscopic blood in the lab roughly 100,000x more sensitive than the naked eye.
Both of my maternal grandparents had colon cancer. I have a family history of IBD. I got my first colonoscopy at 15. I cannot imagine more meaningful work.
And on the personal side, I’ve been dating an amazing partner for ~2 years. She’s not on X, do I can say this here: I’ve found Mrs. Poop. (I know she’s the one bc she thinks that title is hilarious.) I’m proposing later this year 🤫
Life is good. I hope yours is, too. And I’m excited to hear more from you :)

@cachedeposits Haha me too I actually bought a long cable and lead it to my office desk. I got bored fast though after a friend’s dog jumped on my panels and I put them away

@cachedeposits I paid mine off in what in hindsight sounds like the stupidest thing possible, but in Ice Cubes. Excess solar exceeding the battery? Shelly1 flicks on the Ice Machine and alerts when its full or out of water by the power draw dropping off.

@LyalinDotCom will report back. in the meantime maybe you should use your dad card to justify the purchase
English

@cachedeposits why are you tempting me. Id love to hear how this works in practical setting.

all our outdoor outlets are concentrated in one area - i want the option to plug in power tools, speakers, my laptop, etc anywhere. atm i work from my swing and it’s on the other side of the yard with no outlets
useful for charging photography/videography equipment when we host events too. also watch parties during football season. clearly many use cases 😂
and ofc if there’s a power outage, we can keep a fridge running. this is the big one!

@alexpotato i did, ty alex! extends well beyond solar too - smart home setups, ai usage, software. modular & personalized often win in my book

@cachedeposits Yo would probably like this article: granolashotgun.wordpress.com/2020/06/04/bou…

something about surveillance in this case feels like putting a bandaid over a wound instead of treating it - i agree some level is necessary but i wonder if adversarial testing is resourced proportionally to the risk (with teams whose only job is to see how far a malicious actor can push the models)

Insane story and the most serious AI risk: AI makes everyone more powerful, including people who want to do bad things.
The safety question is: does it help people trying to thwart attacks more than it helps those trying to plan them?
The answer might be: yes, but only through more surveillance. Surveillance may be the price we pay for becoming individually more capable.

In a hotel room in northeast Nigeria, I opened a leading AI chatbot, turned my laptop toward a former Boko Haram commander, and asked if he'd used it. He nodded. "You type in the question… like 'How can I build a bomb?', and then it tells you how. It is like a human robot. We used it a lot." My new study on how the jihadist terrorist group Boko Haram uses frontier AI with @CamAISciPolicy, covered today in @nytimes 🧵/9
