CIP-0116 is one of the most important changes that the @CantonNetwork ecosystem has seen in 2026 so far... But what is it? CIP-0116 was approved in May, and provided a full 30-day period after approval for Featured Applications to comply with the changes. In short, Featured Applications are now required to lock significant sums of $CC to maintain their Featured App status. More specifically… - Standard Featured Apps must lock 5M $CC (per PartyId) - Asset Issuer Featured Apps must lock 25M $CC (per PartyId) Featured App status is revoked if applications fall below the required threshold(s). The @CantonFdn Tokenomics Working Group and Super Validators may propose updates to elements like the locked amounts of $CC and the durations, but the motivation behind the CIP is straightforward… - Shift FA governance towards a market-based process. - Prioritize applications that demonstrate committed capital. - Reduce reliance on Foundation prioritisation.
