Why do so many Men in their 20's travel to the same handful of Asian countries for an unnecessary period of time and seemingly do so little? Not fancy mixing it up and gonna India, China, Japan etc? Nah i'll just have another 3 weeks in Cambodia.

There are only 4 real cities in the U.S. That’s it. The rest don’t count. Sorry not sorry.

@HamptonPrezcott @jgmahoney @capilanorivers The true ruling class of Boston lives in large estates in parts of Brookline CC/wellesley/weston/Dover. They might have townhomes in back bay beacon hill but doesn’t not spend much time there.

Under-discussed nuance here. Wealthy families (who can afford private school) actually tend to stay in the city (close-in residential enclaves) to raise their kids. The next tier is effectively forced to move 30-45 minutes away to find a decent school system.

How do people in the suburbs genuinely look forward to Friday night on the couch, Saturday morning at Costco, and call that a weekend? Like you really moved out of the city just to LARP as your parents at 34?

Typical timeline of the American normie: • Varsity athlete in HS (peaked at 17) • Big Ten/SEC school, blacked out Thurs–Sat • Moves to a “fun” city for 3–4 years to continue college lifestyle • Slowly becomes a slave to a normie desk job • Settles for a beautiful mid at 31 because “it’s time” • Promoted a few times, still checks Slack at 9pm • Buys a house 45 min outside the city in the suburbs • Gains 30 lbs and calls it a “dad bod” • Develops a concerning addiction to gardening/lawn care and Costco runs • Sees friends 3x a year if lucky • 2 family vacations a year (one beach, one obligatory holiday) • Pops out a kid to run the exact same script is this the dream or did we all just agree to it?

Beach living in Latin America... Many people think they want to live at the beach full-time before they move abroad But after 2+ years doing exactly that in various places, like Guanacaste, Costa Rica 🇨🇷, here's what nobody tells you: → The infrastructure is terrible — everything takes 3X longer, hospitals are hours away, good schools are limited → The heat is relentless — you're not "enjoying the beach lifestyle," you're hiding inside with AC on blast → The tourist economy drives up prices — you're paying California costs for third-world convenience → The isolation gets old fast — beach towns are fun for 2-3 months, suffocating after a year Here's what actually works: Live in a functional city 8-9 months a year (Monterrey, Santiago, Panama City, Buenos Aires) Then escape to the beach for 2-3 months during summer break You get the best of both worlds without the compromise The digital nomad "paradise beach life" is a marketing myth Real life requires hospitals, schools, infrastructure, and functionality Choose accordingly

I fear @vali_nasr is right. When I met Ali Larijani I found him an absolute insider kingpin of the Iranian regime -- but also the kind of strong and pragmatic leader who just might be able to hammer out a peace deal. Not sure, but I wonder if the war will now be harder to end.
Vali Nasr@vali_nasr

Larijani’s replacement will be appointed by IRGC. With every assassination U.S. and Israel engineering greater radicalization of Iran’s leadership. It will makes for a bleak future for Iran, Iranians, the region and ultimately makes it far more difficult for U.S. to disentangle itself from endless conflict in the region.

Michelle Wu, Zorhan Mamdani these people are your replacement What is sacred to us is not to them, they did come to be apart of our culture, but to supplant it with their own What connection does an atheist Chinese cosmopolitan born in Chicago have to the Irish Catholic roots of New England? The answer is none & they're now beyond the point of even pretending to care
The Boston Globe@BostonGlobe

In a rarity, Mayor Michelle Wu will skip the annual St. Patrick’s Day Breakfast on Sunday, forgoing one of the city’s most hallowed political traditions. trib.al/MnJisDk

Crude futures aren't telling the full story. See Dubai physical swaps (white, balance of the month) vs Brent prompt futures (blue) below. Normally they're pretty close, but right now there's a MAD bid for physical crude in the region—$100/bbl futs, $140/bbl physical barrels.

People are plowing into $LXU, $UAN, $IPI on fertilizer concerns, and if we do end up having a year like 2022 I get why those names would benefit, but $IFOS is already trading at 5x earnings, has a pristine balance sheet with a net cash position, and a heavily aligned management team (Castlelake owns 60%). I think Itafos trades at a sizeable discount to peers likely due to the fact it's listed on the Venture exchange and not accessible to most US investors, but as the company continues to put up record numbers and returns cash via special dividends (now that they have reduced a $250 Million net debt position to close to zero over the last 5 years), I think it'll finally garner some attention. Cheapest in the peer group, clean balance sheet, aligned owners, and now a decent tailwind.

This chart, which has been doing the rounds, shows one of the most hedged equity markets in years. That usually means fear is already priced in, and the risk asymmetry increasingly favors upside surprises rather than further panic selling. This chart tracks Estimated S&P 500 Customer Put Delta Positioning from 2019–2026. Extreme hedging has often appeared near market turning points. Right now the chart shows ~-$70B, the most negative level in the entire series. A lot of bad news is already hedged. There is potential for a “hedge unwind rally”

SPX is up 100 handles since Friday close. 10 Delta "right tail" 3 month calls are unchanged. The right tail was more than fully priced. If you are congratulating yourself for "calling" a taco/war cessation or whatever. Everyone on the planet had already more than fully priced that event.
