In a bipartisan move, the senators joined hands to prohibit on the import, sale, and operation of vehicles manufactured in China and ban the use of Chinese-developed connected vehicle technologies, like software, on American roads.

Today, Joe Quinn (Executive Director of SAFE’s Center for Strategic Industrial Materials) testified before the @USTradeRep's Section 301 hearing on structural excess capacity in global manufacturing.
His assessment was stark: Fueled by state-directed investment, China currently dominates global production of steel, aluminum, and copper. Its subsidized exports suppress prices worldwide and undermine the competitiveness of Western producers.
Despite existing tariffs, the indirect effects of China's overcapacity continue to pressure U.S. margins and competitiveness, leaving manufacturers caught between costly non-Chinese metals and risky dependence on Chinese supply.
