@OliveOilx666 @let_part @but_cyclists @00sfield An adult cyclist in the UK is slightly more likely to have a driving licence than a general member of the adult population.

@MandiganA @PlantsBikesBass You self-declare age and gender so yes..
English

@PlantsBikesBass First finishers, times, and records suggest otherwise 🤷♀️ But really, how hard is it to keep men out of the women's category though? I mean surely this is ISN'T exactly a big ask...? You wouldn't allow a 25 yr old into an over-50s category would you?
English

@but_cyclists Cyclists need to be licensed and insured if. On public roads. just like cars.

@1AppleJonny @Middlesaxon2 @John77042873837 @markchristie Put it into 3rd and ease off the throttle.
If you find that too challenging then driving in a city isn't for you, champ.
English

@Middlesaxon2 @John77042873837 @markchristie I struggle to keep car at 20 & approx 10mpg. Cars not made for this crap. Made to go faster than bicycles and not waste fuel (courtesy of govt who think 20 is plenty). 20 sure as hell isn’t fast enough for bikes 🤔 they know it, hence refusal to reg plate & fine them too..
English

@1AppleJonny @cathsbruv @but_cyclists I can teach you the Physics of why a 2 tonne motorised vehicle is much more dangerous to pedestrians than an 80kg cyclist - but I'd have to charge..
Meanwhile here's why it's a dumb idea.

English

@cathsbruv @but_cyclists So reg plate the bikes zooming past us then.. safe from what? Boomers on bicycles who had no speed limits during their youth? Do you often feel unsafe in a 30 😂
English

@Aeronaut4 @Badger8882 @ArtistCyclist @grok Aeronaut, come back when you understand that roads are paid from general taxation. Until then STFU
English

@Badger8882 @ArtistCyclist @grok I'm relieved that you're single handedly propping up the entire economy. Good job.
English

@OliveOilx666 @PaulOBrienArch @ErginErbil @EnfieldCouncil @Bad_Enfield You need a better job. And a better hobby.
English

@PaulOBrienArch @ErginErbil @EnfieldCouncil @Bad_Enfield I worked 16 hours on Sunday.... Tell me again what you did?

@Wellthatsafirst @but_cyclists It famously has a greater affect on those who personally pollute the atmosphere by driving long distances.
H2H, Duck.
English

@but_cyclists Yes, because the cost of fuel famously doesn't affect anyone who doesn't drive
English

@Jenny_1884 Perhaps cyclists should pay a road tax and show a number plate?

A spirited conversation today with @JeremyVineOn5 about when he reported a taxi driver, sat in stationary traffic at lights, using his phone behind the wheel. Whilst I agree the taxi driver was breaking the law, I am very worried that we are becoming a "snitch society" and how this type of reporting can cause friction between motorists and cyclists. You can watch the interview here. What are your thoughts? - youtu.be/XT64ELDtdvA. #cycling #motoringlaw #snitchsociety @CatharineHoey

@VincentStops Bit of a non-sequitur from you, there.
We don't have them. Yet.

In which Simon Munk of the London Cycling Campaign re-writes history. The cyclists told us if you built a load of cycle tracks people would switch from cars and thus reduce congestion. They didn’t and the motors are still here. transportxtra.com/publications/l…
English

@AManOnTheMove Don't believe you. If it were true then commuting cyclists would win olympic golds while wearing rucksacks..
English

Gentle reminder to my #cyclist trolls. In the majority of London (where I frequent and work) the speed limit is 20mph. I cycle (to be clear) and comfortably get close to that in many places on my average road ride, bikes shoot pass me and other road others WELL in excess of this!

English

@JeremyVineOn5 No, they're a terrible idea. There's a reason why only N Korea requires them.

UK urgently needs:
- Cycling proficiency test/licence
-cycling speed limits (electric& pedal)
-bike registration no. so cyclists accountable
-no cycling in parks/on pavements
-mandatory bells/lights to alert people in dim light etc
Cyclists can terrorise
hurt & even kill others

We seriously need to do better 🚴🚴 No life saver check …. No hesitation in jumping this red light…. As cyclists we need to keep safety in mind and not blindly put ourselves in danger. We must do better 🚴🚴🚴🚴🚴
English

Thousands of cyclists, e-bike and e-scooter riders are breaking the rules and yet no one is being held accountable. The law simply hasn’t kept pace. If we want safer roads, we need proper regulation, identification and enforcement. Please read my views in this article. #cycling

@HowardCCox @DailyMail @David_Churchill Also this, a succinct explanation about why this is a bad idea.
But by all means start another doomed petition..

English

See my comments in @DailyMail to cyclists continually getting away with breaking road user speeding regulations at will @David_Churchill
In opinion poll after opinion poll, FairFuelUK supporters have called for cyclists, especially e-bikers, to be taxed as road users, insured, required to have their bikes road-tested and registered so they are easily identifiable. A significant minority of riders treat the Highway Code’s speeding regulations and safety rules with utter contempt, continually behaving like arrogant, sanctimonious, unchecked outlaws. These untouchables not only ignore traffic lights and regularly exceed the speed limit but also risk collisions with other vehicles and, increasingly, illegally use pavements, endangering pedestrians. The police seem to believe that speeding on a bicycle is not worth prosecuting, much like a shoplifter stealing less than £200 worth of goods. Cyclists who break the road-user laws, like motorists, must never be ignored by the police, the courts, and this anti-driver Government. They must be treated exactly the same under the law, according to the severity of their offence.
