@ReportBulldawg @EvilCoachYeah I'm your age, watched GH, I don't agree with you. I can see the argument sure, but Gurley was putting up Hearst numbers as a freshman. If you feel differently then you do you, but it's silly to say they weren't on the same level.

@jussressop @Karina_inCRE Not OP, but yes, we do. We got a similar quote for a 2400 sq ft house in GA. We killed 15% on one Saturday. And that was the rooms with the dark paint that's going to take multiple coats. We could do it weekend warrior'ng it in 2 full weekends. Which is what we're doing.

@Karina_inCRE Do you have any idea how much work it is to paint out a 2400sf house? If you did it yourself, you’d be begging to pay someone to do the next one.

@barstoollaw @anymanfitness I mean sure-- in baseball in GA there are a few programs that send players to truly top tier tournaments and have players ranked nationally. That said, the VAST majority of travel ball players don't even make their varsity team, much less go beyond.

@chripuck @anymanfitness Some clubs it's pretty high. Texas A&M won national title, think 4 of their players came out of the same club in Houston. Not the reason to do it though. I fully plan on paying for college, told daughter if she wants to commit to top level play, I'll support it.

Last year there were over 80 girls who tried out for the volleyball program. Zero of them didn't play travel. If you play travel you are practicing 3-5 times per week and playing 6+ games every weekend against good competition. You have no shot at varsity if you don't play.
Michael Moyer@twitm0822

@anymanfitness The only requirement to playing varsity is that she is more talented than other players who go out. Spending 10k for a cool uniform and nights in a hotel room isn’t gonna do that. Actually putting in the work will. But hey. I’m sure the league appreciates the donation.

@PsychCaptainX @SimoneHCollins No arguing about your current situation, but the OP was talking about the burbs, not BFE. I can be in my major city in 40 minutes if I really want something authentic and with it so large, even the burbs have plenty of great food to choose from.

Flip side: I'll tell you what I cant do in my shitty small town: There are no good french pastries, no good mexican food, deep dish pizza is at least 100 miles away. No good coffee study/research/lounges. No car groups. No hobby shops. Everyone is old and shuts down at 4pm. Hard to find workers to help. You cant even give away your money because people wont work, dating sucks, no entertainers come here, to do anything, i have to travel 100 miles, etc. etc.

Can someone explain to us what urban 34-year-olds are doing in the cities that's so fun and special? We remember walking to the grocery store, trying to pack a week's worth of food into a small fridge and freezer, and maybe being robbed blind for mediocre food at a restaurant.
Murray Hill Guy@MurrayHillGuy1

How do people in the suburbs genuinely look forward to Friday night on the couch, Saturday morning at Costco, and call that a weekend? Like you really moved out of the city just to LARP as your parents at 34?

@TheFemoid Additionally, a Cybertruck can go from 70 to a standstill in 3.5 seconds on a flat surface, as estimated by ChatGPT. It's simple physics. Why would any computer be programmed to turn off 4 seconds before the impact given you can literally fully stop in that time.

Wasn’t it proven that autopilot is programmed to disengage when it registers it’s about to crash? If it turns off 4 seconds before impact that means the autopilot caused the crash How are we this stupid
Nic Cruz Patane@niccruzpatane

Elon Musk confirmed via Telemetry Data that the woman driving the Cybertruck in this video disengaged the system four seconds before the crash. She was manually driving throughout this entire video. Don't believe everything you see/hear from Legacy Media about Tesla.

@TheFemoid This is also autopilot, not FSD. Autopilot is the same as lane keeping cruise control for non-Tesla people. If she expected lane keeping cruise control to take a highway turn at speed she's the problem.

so why might this be? my guess is its a sort of hormesis effect, where a little of a bad thing ends up being good kind of like exercise: wear and tear on your muscles causes them to grow back bigger and stronger maybe here, the amount of DNA damage and other harms from the radiation is slight enough that is causes cells to upregulate repairs proteins and such, leading to net good effects (side note: we know from a companion study that there really was an increase in DNA damage from the radiation PMID: 31633839)

@CoachSwit I think the issue is why would a D1 program want someone like that if they can get the exact same thing but the guy throws 95 mph? Or get a guy that can throw 95 and they teach better control. Arm talent is binary, control less so.

For all the velocity experts out there… So are we saying the pitcher who throws 85 mph, commands the zone, and can land two off-speed pitches for strikes anytime has no chance of playing D1 baseball? Or are we pretending those guys don’t still get outs? Just wondering?

@edgaralandough You don't have to pay down before the statement date. You have ~20 days after your statement is issued to pay it off. Been doing it that way for 25 years.

I know my credit card companies hate me 😂 I will run it up every month and pay it down to 1% utilization before the statement date then pay it in full right after. They’ve never gotten a cent of interest out of me but I have gotten 6 figures of rewards points out of them.

@kamikazecash @contractorkeith 6.125% is not much of a choice. I wouldn't bet on the market beating that long term. The real question is for folks who have sub 3% loans.

I’m in this spot now. My mortgage is at 6.125% and I have to decide if I’d be better off investing and carrying the mortgage, paying off the house, or carrying the mortgage while anticipating refinance. Mathematically, I’d be better off investing. But there’s risk of getting squashed by a bear market. So what do you do? There’s really no wrong answer.

Fact: If you pay your house off it’s always paid off. Fact: if you instead put that money into stocks based on “historic data” and the market crashes, you could lose it all, or a big portion. And you would still owe on the house. I will never understand how staying in debt supersedes investment money. Pay off the mortgage then start investing that amount but be debt free. The secure feeling alone is worth it. Plus a paid for home grows in value, can be used as a rental, etc. I am far from Dave Ramsay on debt but if you’ve ever lost everything and been homeless during 2008 or another crash you might know where I am coming from, too many people only look at the last 10-15yrs of data.
Zach Melloh, CFP®@zachmelloh26

Should you pay off your mortgage early or invest instead? A couple recently faced this exact dilemma. They had $180k in cash and a $175k mortgage at 3.1%. Spouse #1: “Let’s just pay it off. I hate debt. I want the house free and clear.” Spouse #2: “No way. Why use cash to eliminate a 3% loan when we could invest it at 7% or more based on historical returns?” Both had valid points. Her math said invest it. His stress levels said pay it off. So they compromised... paid off half, invested half — improving cash flow and keeping their long-term plan on track. This decision isn’t purely financial. It’s emotional, behavioral, and personal. And that’s why this debate will never end. Have you run your numbers on this scenario? (Example is hypothetical and for illustrative purposes only)

The initial comment was confrontational and a personal insult to parents picking their kids up from school. You find cussing bizarre? What’s bizarre? Calling him out for being a fat fucking loser sitting there weirdly staring at parents at his kids school and judging them? Sorry I just made an observation 🤷🏻‍♀️

I made a planning mistake and it ended up making more sense to go wait at the school to pick up my son 35 minutes early rather than five minutes late like usual. I’ve discovered that a very large number of parents are insane. There was already multiple cars waiting when I arrived and many here 20+ minutes early. Why do this? What are you accomplishing?!

OK, if we take the PR spin that teams had Carnell Tate's 40 time faster than the ELECTRONIC TIMING the Combine did on face value...how is that possible? Literally the only way would be for his start technique to somehow trigger the timing before scouts are starting their clocks. Interestingly, I can see it. I slowed down his start here, watch how his plant hand is basically the first thing to move, coming up before his other hand starts to swing. I could buy there's half a tenth of a second in that technque vs a guy who triggers with that back-hand starting to swing or the coil in his legs and his plant hand staying on the ground a split second longer.
