@cibriddon @EFCLyndon Nobody is arguing for hair pulling to be part of the game. But neither of those incidents are 'violent' and they shouldn't be treated as such. A foul and a yellow card would suffice. Only send someone off if they violently pull someone's hair.

@Birchy_Steve @EFCLyndon The rule is there to remove hair pulling from the game - players know the rules so know they will be sent off if they do it. Carricks response is embarrasing as is anybody who tries to defend it.

@cibriddon @EFCLyndon I am well aware as I was at the Wolves game. The rule has been applied consistently across the two incidents, but the rule itself is still wrong and needs to change.

@RobChadwick8 @EFCLyndon He has hold of his hair - thats a red card - there is no degree to it - hair pull = red card. Plus its far more than what Keane did v Wolves!

@EFCLyndon It was even less of a pull than Michael Keane’s. A foul, a yellow at a push but certainly not a red.

@Birchy_Steve @EFCLyndon You might want to compare the one last night to Keanes v Wolves who literally just had his hand on his hair and was sent off and got a 3 match ban. At least the rule was applied consistently!

@EFCLyndon Probably. We know how this goes... Carrick is right though. It's ludicrous for a light tug of a pony tail to be 'violent conduct'. It's a foul/booking and no more. Players should only be getting sent off for this if they proper skull rag someone in an actual violent manner.

@dgriffinpix @DerbyshireCCC @deany75 My take was that it was just disappointing as beating Lancs at Old Trafford wouldve made a statement as to where we are this season. Lancs bowled well and but for a couple of players - nobody gave their wicket away. Sometimes you have to give credit to greats like Jimmy Anderson

@Grayzer__ @JohnBrewin_ DO you want refs to be consistent or not - hair pull = red card. Or do you only disagree when its a Man Utd player getting sent off - did you make this much fuss when Keane was sent off v Wolves?

Can’t believe the rage about Lisandro’s hair-pulling red card. Good process, silly boy.

@Field_FTP @JohnBrewin_ But the fact that Keane was sent off means the decision last night was correct - thats what consistency means!

@JohnBrewin_ Point to the law... and then show us all "with force" in the action please. Because so many dont seem to understand the laws around this at all. It was a flawed process from start to finish. And several examples show why. Did you think the same when Keane was sent off?

@utb1980 @johnbrab @FootballInT80s I mean the linesman gave it and ran to the half way line afterwards. Ellary apologised to Jonathan Howard afterwards for not giving it but sure it didnt!

@cibriddon @johnbrab @FootballInT80s Sky Sports did a ‘virtual replay’ during the week after the game showing it wasn’t over. Bearing in mind that this wasn’t over the line, show me proof that the ball was in.

13/04/1997: Sean Dyche scores the Dyche-iest penalty you’ll ever see to give Chesterfield a 2-0 lead over Middlesbrough in the Fa Cup semi-final. Unfortunately for the lovers of underdogs, Middlesbrough came back and eventually progressed to the final.

@simonhancock_uk @fcmad1960 @willis_macp From an Essex fans standpoint, TKC sub was perfectly fine. Similar in a way to Westleys one. Goldsworthys was worse as he batted albeit with a runner, but neither are anywhere near as bad as Yorkshire making two subs yesterday because of 'illness', sets a dangerous bar.

Already a bit of noise around the County Championship's substitutes rule. A good idea in principle, but needs to be massively tightened up if the trial is going to become a permanent change: telegraph.co.uk/cricket/2026/0…

@willis_macp Whilst the 8 day ban works in theory - teams who dont play the next week can take liberties with it (like Yorks this week have no game next week so no one is penalised for being substituted)

@deerlands @TomMerriman82 But part of that is because its an almost sudden death game and winner takes all - if you have a best of series then its not and you lose the intensity of the one off games!

@TomMerriman82 Agree. That was an excellent game and the increased intensity that you get with the playoffs compared with the exhibition stuff you can get regular season

I’ll bang this drum every year but for the love of god we need a longer playoff season in the EIHL. That was by the far the most entertaining game of the season. I’m not talking best of 7’s as it’s not workable but what’s wrong with the old format like in the HPL days?

@steelermark you have a 2 legged tie to beat someone - if you cant be the better team over 2 legs you dont deserve to win - penalties is neither here nor there. The people usually complaining are the ones who lose - if Belfast cant beat Glasgow over 2 legs thats on them not the penalties!

@SomersetGrockle @sambillings But its designed to stop people taking advantage of it by making them miss time so theoretically only genuinely injured players are subbed out. If the 8 day ban means you don't miss a game it doesn't do that - should be next game you miss

@sambillings What has Yorkshire not playing got to do with the rule? It's not designed to punish players for being injured in the course of a game.

Not sold on injury subs in the Championship. Get the principle but subbing guys out with sickness or finger injuries? Not for me. Feels like it should be used as often as players used to be 'absent hurt' - and based on the useage in the first two weeks that's not the case
