The District of Columbia is overwhelmingly Democratic. The northern suburbs of VA are overwhelmingly Democratic. So too the MD suburbs.
So don’t tell me the workers in the Federal government are not overwhelmingly Democratic.

Charging the Southern Poverty Law Center with a federal crime for paying informants to help dismantle hate groups is an outrageous weaponization of the Dept of Justice and the FBI. As someone who has been a prosecutor and has taken on the Klan I can tell you that use of paid informants is a common tactic used to dismantle drug cartels, the mob and extremist groups on both the right and the left. It is clear that all civil rights organizations are in the cross hairs of this Administration and that folks, puts everyone at risk.

Per the indictment, the DOJ's case vs the SPLC is based on the theory that it defrauded donors by using funds "for the benefit of" extremist groups rather than to "dismantle" them.
The mechanism: paying informants. Note that the FBI pays informants in extremist groups.

This evening: @DAGToddBlanche and I are announcing an 11 count indictment against the Southen Poverty Law Center. Charges include wire fraud, false statements to a federally insured bank, and conspiracy to commit concealment money laundering. The SPLC allegedly engaged in a massive fraud operation to deceive their donors, enrich themselves, and hide their deceptive operations from the public. They lied to their donors, vowing to dismantle violent extremist groups, and actually turned around and paid the leaders of these very extremist groups - even utilizing the funds to have these groups facilitate the commission of state and federal crimes. That is illegal – and this is an ongoing investigation against all individuals involved.
