It's really depressing to think that if Hillary Clinton had gotten Kamala Harris numbers in the suburbs (not even biden numbers were needed) she wins and if Kamala had gotten hillary numbers with minorities she also wins.

Former WV Sen. Joe Manchin (I) talking to Majority Leader Thune on the Senate floor 👀

I used to like the idea behind this, but a Republican won the popular vote last time. I think it would be undemocratic to give your electoral votes to a candidate that these states didn’t vote for.

Obviously Dems need to expand their coalition, but the goal is to get significant enough majorities to pass an ideologically coherent agenda, not just have Democrats somehow represent every state in the country. The objective should be only having 1 Manchin, not 30!

FWIW, even if Virginia voters approve their new map, it would mostly just make things about even for the cycle. It would be Rs adding 9 seats, Ds adding 10, per CNN's tracker. So this wouldn't be Florida trying to offset Virginia, so much as it giving Rs a net gain.

NEW: The court has indicated that it may release opinions this Friday, April 17, at 10:00 a.m. EDT.

NPR: Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger signed a bill Monday that adds the state to the National Popular Vote Compact, an agreement among states to award their presidential electoral votes to the nationwide popular vote winner. Link to article: npr.org/2026/04/14/nx-…

How would you react if you see this on election night?
