@simonw The cost of asking the LLM to type something for me is pretty high sometimes. Context switching between English and code, and from writing to review and back, and the reduced clarity of thought from doing so. Or I can write it myself and get exactly what I want the first time.
English

@coreyward @Hiddenwallet @swd2 You know they're police, dumbass. You're grasping desperately at straws. Everyone sees what you're doing.
English

@websim_ai You don't appear to have a DMCA takedown notice on the site. Give me an email address I can send one to or I can go dig up your upstream provider and let them sort it out (i.e., pull your full site). Thank youuuu.

@IntCyberDigest SHHHH! Do you want to set the U.S. back again? Your scoop is not worth the billions in lost productivity.

New: The Trump admin has launched "Gold Eagle," a new AI cybersecurity clearinghouse that officials say will rapidly identify, coordinate and patch software vulnerabilities across government and critical infrastructure.
- It’s the first major implementation of Trump's June 2 AI executive order
- Launched July 2 by Treasury, Dept of War and DHS in consultation with WH
- the intake portion was developed with Carnegie Mellon University to ingest vulnerability reports
- while a companion platform known as the Vulnerability Information and Coordination Environment (VINCE) will validate, prioritize and securely distribute them for remediation
- Cairncross says the clearinghouse will also scan open-source software for vulnerabilities
- “Gold Eagle enables us to deny our adversaries the advantages of American innovation and put the best-in-class technology in the hands of our defenders as quickly as possible”
- Says Trump has asked industry to "put America first”

@gdb Thanks for highlighting. Blocked before I have to see his cringey AI emails.

@Hiddenwallet @swd2 And terribly unstylish baseball caps, random civi clothes underneath their vests, family minivans and SUVs without government plates…

@heyimgustavo Ah yes, the kind of free, open-source software that instructs your AI agent to sign up for an account and send a for-profit company all of your code. 🙄

There's a difference between USING a tool to create something and REPLACING your role in creating that thing with the output of the tool.
A CNC does not replace the role of a machinist. Static analysis tools do not replace the role of structural engineers.
My work product is quality software that has been architected and engineered to a high standard, commensurate with my experience. An LLM's output may look identical to a layperson, but that does not make it a reasonable substitute.
English

@coreyward @anothercohen are ai coding tools encouraged or not? because if they are, and you are saying "AI generated code are effectively entirely due to it being low quality", I think it's a bit contradictory
English

A slide from our last all hands.
I've also started to call out this behavior publicly in Slack channels.
Tired of consuming workslop

ted@tednotlasso
best friend is a PM and is back at work after 5 months maternity leave she is shocked at how many coworkers / partners have outsourced critical thinking and now copy pasta claude “feels like they’re not using their brain, very frustrating”
English

@clodoan @anothercohen If the point is code quality, and you don't see the issue with it looking AI generated, you've already lost. The tells of AI generated code are effectively entirely due to it being low quality.
Besides, it's distracting and makes others doubt that it's sound.
English

@anothercohen I agree with this but I wonder what’s the problem with things looking like AI. If AI use is encouraged, why make people spend time afterwards hiding the traces of AI? If the point is the code quality, does this really matter?
English

@anothercohen Should have added a "Let me know if you want me to make it more direct and to the point!" at the end just to troll the team.
English

@TaboadaMb @TexasScorecard The guy making plea deals with pedophiles?
English

@Austin_Police Be mindful that Law Enforcement is consistent in mislabeling non-whites as whites. 🤡
An egregious trend to manipulate crime statistics.

@miss_thats @SethAbramson If you believe that, here's an MRI of your brain:
.
Notice anything?
English

@coreyward @SethAbramson That’s zoomed into the image from the McConnell photo
English

@miss_thats @SethAbramson You just shared a totally different image. Not sure if you created it or you saw it somewhere and didn't think to zoom into the original to see what it showed. This looks like a bad AI upscaling of the original.
English

@coreyward @SethAbramson What about the headline? It’s AI slop. By the way, if it is real then. He’s been in the hospital for a facelift and some hair darkening.

@FinchHaven @ArmsControlWonk Do you live under a rock? Did your internet go out for a few days?
English

@ArmsControlWonk When did Elaine Chow return from China?
No authoritative source seems to even mention it, let alone know
English

@equusjf @ArmsControlWonk Surely you can share the original photo from 2023 then, right?
English

@ArmsControlWonk The original photo was taken in 2023 when McConnell was in hospital for broken rib. They photoshopped (badly) the newspaper to make it seem current
