We are delighted to announce that we have been appointed consulting course architect to Golf de Chantilly in Vineuil-Saint-Firmin, France. Founded in 1909 and located 45km north of Paris, the club has two courses, the Vineuil and the Longères. The former has hosted many national and international competitions including 11 French Opens. The Vineuil was extended from 9 to 18 holes by Tom Simpson in 1920. He designed the Longères in 1929 which was badly damaged during WWII and abandoned until its redesign by Donald Steel in 1991. After Hardelot and Fontainebleau, Chantilly becomes our third French client to be the custodian of a Tom Simpson designed course.

@kmbaert Come a little farther north to play Silloth and the wonderful @ApplebyGolfClub . You won’t find better putting surfaces or turf, plus the routing will blow your mind

Four new entries in Continental Europe's Top 100 Courses 2025. Two are brand new - Crownwood Club in Sweden & Terras da Comporta (Torre) in Portugal. Germany's Fohr & PGA National Czech Republic also come in. My favourite list to compile. I've played all 100 & 142 of the top 150.

@Daib212 @AlistairPhilp1 @rollbackgolf The worst thing about so many Open courses now are previously brilliant green to tee transitions are now marred by having to walk back 50+ meters just to get to the tees.

Bunkers have proabably become the most time consuming expensive thing on the golf course these days ! So many places moan about their bunkers with wrong sand, to much to little no liner stones etc I’d rather fill them in as pro’s think they to easy, amateurs to hard 🤷🏼‍♂️ 😴

A key part of our restoration is bringing back the heather, much of which was lost as trees gradually took over. Heather growth is a slow process, but it’s great to see it reappearing across the course – and exciting to imagine how things might look in ten years’ time.

🔔 Golfers I need your help. I’m travelling back south from Pitlochry to Liverpool next Saturday after a couple of days golfing. I’d love to find a budget hidden gem on the way home to round things off nicely. Any recommendations?

@NOTdaRealGil The smaller and simpler the better. Golf should be about the course not about clubhouses and certainly not about clubhouses full of frills and gold taps. ⛳️🙂

The Castle Course vs. the Jubilee Course Head-to-head between two of the seven St. Andrews Links courses. If you had one round, which would you play? If you had 10 rounds, how would you split them between the two? And why?
