@ieatzebra Agree, Swedish one is far better. It’s incredible how much worse the Fincher one is with only 2 years between them, completely botched the reveal of the killer as well. Could’ve copied the original shot for shot, but couldn’t even manage that. No reason for the remake to exist.

@HOTDNewsHBO Trained as an assassin for years, comes at him yelling, causing him to turn around. Wasn’t the most ridiculous thing that happened in the season though.

@makneta It’s tricky, but perhaps you get used to it over time, if the different shortcuts become associated in your memory with the different physical keyboards. I’ve had CapsLock set to Ctrl for years and hate when I suddenly have to use any OS/keyboard config that doesn’t have it.

Almost 3 months ago, I got my very first Mac laptop. It was my dream to get a good laptop to code on my coach or in my bed. But (I know, it's stupid) the difference in key shortcuts drives me crazy. I constantly open some windows or cut text I wrote. I used to type without

@Gamer12271 @tsoding Wrong. GNU Make works on Windows via Cygwin. It can invoke Microsoft’s cl.exe and link.exe fine. Been doing it for decades.

@craig1783 @tsoding Makefiles dont work on Windows. And each Unix-like OS have their own makefile variant. Try writing a build script for every plataform. (The Kernel dont have to deal with this)

@craig1783 @tsoding Apparently there are operating systems other than Linux that you might want to build projects for, I just learned this yesterday. This strange concept of being "cross platform" seems really useful.

@ElucidationsPod Not easily reproducible but on some parts of a large C++ buffer (3Kloc) edits can be slow when font-lock-mode is on. Only parts of the buffer, an edit on the line below is fast. Also tramp is unusably slow, despite all the ssh Control* options people post, even on local network.

So, gdb has the “up” command, which means “go up the stack”, by which they mean further away from the top of the stack, i.e. down. If I wanted to fix this and remove confusion by using different nomenclature, what should that be?

@TheStingisBack It's a great movie and Candy was a great comic actor, but I never liked the final scene. Focus on Neal kissing his wife, while Del has to stand there alone like a lemon, squeezing his hat, and forcing a smile. Rub it in why don't they.

@tsoding They forked Bram’s project and removed his name from the startup screen, as if most of the code wasn’t his, so yeah, remove from the laptop in kind. A pointless project.

I found a weird program on my laptop. It's called "nvim". The name sounds like it's something for NVIDIA GPUs. But I'm on AMD rn! I should probably delete it...
