@NorthernFiFi @MazeSlays @WildfireWatcher You do understand that these are ballots from early voting opportunities right? The ballots from all voting opportunities aren't counted until after the close of voting on the final voting day. It's indeed not rocket science. You can read all the details on the Elections BC site.

@MazeSlays @WildfireWatcher Why would I need to. I made a very clear statement. Any remote place in BC would have a had their ballots counted first. It’s not like we have communities with 1000’s in remote areas. That is not rocket science. I do not need to watch anyone count.

@NorthernFiFi @WildfireWatcher Everywhere. It is an offense against the Elections Act to count ballots before the close of voting on the final voting day. Those ballots are stored in sealed, tamper evident boxes until they can be transferred to the district electoral office. All this information is public.

@WildfireWatcher Name one place remote enough that the ballots wouldn’t have been counted before the end of that night

@Taleeb @Conservative_BC @ElectionsBC @JohnRustad4BC Anytime Tabulators are used... Or mail-in ballots... Or phone in votes are allowed . Is when integrity needs to be questioned. Especially when it's the NDP themselves that changed the laws of the provincial election act recently Ask yourself WHY they felt it necessary to do that?

@Dang57404287 @mssinenomine Except for the people, like the one you're responding to, for which it didn't. BTW, the current system is still pen and paper. Every single ballot in the province was cast with a pen and paper. Those papers are all available for judicial recount if necessary.

@mssinenomine If people lose trust in the system it is very bad. The old system of pen and paper worked well.

Hi. I voted by telephone and I wrote a thread about how it works. It's actually not "insane" and it'd be great if you stopped using that word for things you don't understand or agree with. I would not have been able to vote otherwise. Making voting more accessible is not bad.
Wyatt Claypool@wyatt_claypool

@Prominent_Bryan The telephone voting is also insane in the sense the public has zero clue how it works and that it even existed in the first place.

@mssinenomine When I first heard about telephone voting I wondered how they kept it secure. Then I read the process on the Elections BC website and came away impressed. So glad this is available to people who need it.

@Hanwarrior @mssinenomine One great thing about the machine tabulation is that you the voter can verify that it read only one mark and that it was accepted. The tabulator clearly identifies over and under votes and allows the voter the chance to fix their ballot. Nobody but you knows who you voted for.

@mssinenomine Ballots need to be better . I don’t feel confident with my Dygraph and motor coordination issue voting on ballots when it says “don’t make a Mark outside the box “ as is the case with machine read ballots

@ArteiceTB Queer people too. Just because medieval Europe wasn't open to gay people doesn't mean all societies with similar tech levels would be. Especially worlds with active gods that can reveal their preferences.

Canadian elections are safe and secure. You vote for one candidate, in ridings drawn up by nonpartisan panels. It is sad, even for a cesspool like Twitter, to see delusional conspiracy theories in Elections BC's mentions.

@SeroKdnolin @MurraWil If you're interested in learning more it's all very clearly posted on the Elections BC website. When I first heard about telephone voting I had some concerns. So I read through the process and came away quite impressed. Great way to ensure all eligible voters can vote!

@SeroKdnolin @MurraWil Because under the Elections Act no votes can be counted until after the close of voting. The advance votes were then tabulated in each District Electoral Office. Thanks to the new tabulation machines the results were almost all sent to Elections BC within 30 minutes.

@tommassive @Travisty1981 @steeletalk Why do you hate deployed military and coast guard members? Do you think they aren't Canadian enough to vote? I think it's quite disgusting that you think someone deployed to defend our country isn't worthy of a vote.

Good lord. I see the election deniers are surfacing in BC - unhappy about the vote result & recount. Please Canada - don't go do that road and sow distrust in our electoral process.

@Vendtta68 @David_Moscrop That has never happened. You're confusing the media calling the election on election night based off an incomplete count.

The Elections BC ballot counting process takes time because it is dedicated to protecting the integrity of the election — which it does. The delay is good and people calling it into question have things exactly backwards.

@Loricatty @TheScriddler @David_Moscrop No it didn't. In the last provincial election voting was May 9 and the final count was May 24. What you are thinking of is the media making a call based on incomplete information.

@dodle @David_Moscrop Sealed ballot transfer boxes were taken home in areas where the district electoral office was far away, like northern ridings where the conservatives won handily. Sealed in a tamper evident way by election workers and candidate reps. This info was publicly available.

@crookedchair69 @lorene1voice @ElectionsBC Those ballots were not counted at home. They were sealed in the presence of at least 2 election officials and any candidate representatives present. Any tampering would be obvious. They remained sealed and un-tabulated until after voting finished. This is publicly available info.

On the eve of the writ drop, John Rustad stated this was a “rigged” election. This was a dangerous and irresponsible thing to say. Now we’re watching conspiracies swirl online from his supporters as ElectionsBC dutifully & thoroughly tallies up the remaining ballots. #bcpoli

Lots of misinformation re #BCElections2024, so it bears repeating the election has been free and fair. There isn't a shred of evidence to the contrary. I know it's hard to be patient, but we're well served by Elections BC's care as it follows the Election Act to finalize results.
