@NarrativeResist @JoshMandell6 better to think of it as speculative defense. Governments debase/devalue your money. You opt out with a better technology/money... to defend yourself. If you do it with leverage, that's more like an attack. But like they say, the best defense is a good offense.

@dgt10011 @blockspace @Bitwise if there is a user consensus that is different than the ETF's decision on a fork... do we have potential for ETF differentiation? I sell my IBIT because I don't like their fork choice, and I instead buy Fidelity? Is it likely that the big boys might not necessarily be aligned?

How will ETF issuers agree on the right fork of Bitcoin? @dgt10011 says asset managers like @Bitwise will have to think hard about how to manage a Bitcoin fork to protect investor earnings, including the dividend of the forked asset.

Half of America's AI data centers planned for 2026 are delayed or cancelled. They're waiting on transformers. I build chemical plants. Transformer prices have tripled in the last four years. Lead times are 2 to 4 years. Each new plant we build competes with AI data centers for the same grid equipment. Every large power transformer in America runs on grain-oriented electrical steel. It's made by rolling iron and silicon together until their crystals align in one direction. No other alloy works at utility scale and only one US company makes it: Cleveland-Cliffs. The average large power transformer on the grid is 38 years old. Service life is 40. Amazon, Google, Meta, and Microsoft committed $650 billion to AI infrastructure this year. Nvidia's most expensive GPU is useless without a transformer.

I've been thinking about this for the last several days: why hasn't Strategy expanded their USD reserve yet? Occam's razor explanation: The market never actually cared that much about the USD reserve; it cared about not feeling anxious. And investors are no longer feeling anxious - particularly $STRC investors. And @Strategy proved they have no problem raising capital in a bear market. Of course, there is a bit of chicken-and-egg / counterfactual going on here - "But they were only able to turn on the STRC spigot because of the USD reserve!" Maybe. We'll never know for sure the number of investors for whom this was important, and how important. But one thing is certain: markets are irrational sometimes (or most times). As someone who is heavily invested in the company, I fully support temporarily letting the reserve's months of coverage shrink - to as low as 10-12 months - so the treasury team can snatch up all of this absurdly cheap BTC, which will not last.
