💉 મે ૧૪, ૧૭૯૬: જે દિવસે તબીબી વિજ્ઞાને ઇતિહાસ રચ્યો! 🩺 આજે માનવ ઇતિહાસના સૌથી સાહસિક અને ક્રાંતિકારી પ્રયોગની વર્ષગાંઠ છે! 🌍✨ ૧૪ મે, ૧૭૯૬ના રોજ અંગ્રેજ ચિકિત્સક **એડવર્ડ જેનર** (જેમને 'ઇમ્યુનોલોજીના પિતા' માનવામાં આવે છે) એ વિશ્વની **પ્રથમ સફળ સ્મોલપોક્સ (શીતળા) રસી** આપીને જીવવિજ્ઞાનની દિશા બદલી નાખી હતી. 🧪🔬 🧬 તે પ્રયોગ શું હતો? જેનરે નોંધ્યું હતું કે ગાયો દોહનારી મહિલાઓ (મિલ્કમેડ્સ) ને ગાયના શીતળા (cowpox) થયા પછી જીવલેણ શીતળા (smallpox) થતા નથી. આ સિદ્ધાંતને ચકાસવા માટે તેમણે: 1. સારા નેલ્મ્સ નામની ગૌશાળામાં કામ કરતી મહિલાના જખમમાંથી કાઉપોક્સનું પરુ એકત્ર કર્યું. 2. ૮ વર્ષના છોકરા **જેમ્સ ફિપ્સ**ને તે રસી તરીકે આપ્યું. 3. પરિણામ એ આવ્યું કે ફિપ્સ શીતળાના રોગ સામે સુરક્ષિત (Immune) થઈ ગયો! 🛡️ આ શોધનો વારસો આ એક ક્ષણને કારણે ૧૯૮૦માં વિશ્વભરમાંથી શીતળાનું સંપૂર્ણ નિમૂલન શક્ય બન્યું, જેનાથી કરોડો લોકોના જીવ બચ્યા. આધુનિક રસીકરણની શરૂઆત આ સાહસિક કદમથી જ થઈ હતી! 🏛️💉 --- #એડવર્ડજેનર #શીતળા #રસીકરણ #વિજ્ઞાન #ઇતિહાસ #ગુજરાતી #ScienceInGujarati #EdwardJenner #VaccineHistory #Medicine #ScienceFacts #OnThisDay #PublicHealth #Biology #Discovery #HealthCare @WHO @ScienceMuseum
