UPDATE: we halted a speech by Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. As Nazis take over our government, he wines and dines Silicon Valley tech tycoons promising "moderation". Due to his cowardice, approval of Congressional Democrats just sank to 21%.

And trying to isolate China by pursuing Russia at the expense of almost literally other country is fundamentally a flawed strategy because other than a nuclear arsenal, Russia is a weak state.

There may be lots of truth in that. The main problem with this plan, however, is that the Russian leadership knows it and seems to be unenthusiastic. Basically, they frame it in the following way: "The US want to use us against China, like they used Ukraine against us"

Pete Hegseth, Defense Secretary, just announced in Brussels at a press conference that the U.S. isn't prepared to face Russia, particularly at sea. He claims it would take over seven years to build the necessary ships. What the actual fuck is he doing, broadcasting our vulnerabilities to the entire world? These incompetent idiots clearly have no fucking clue what they're doing.

Important to note that Hawaii has seen an 87% increase in homelessness, and when Gov. Green tried to enact an emergency housing development movement, ACLU and Sierra Club called it akin to "genocide," which led to Green backing down.

Insurance is one of finance's greatest gifts to mankind. But it's breaking down. As risk rises, so does the actuarially fair premium, but people & politicians can't/won't pay. (The United Healthcare backlash shows what happens when insurers try to control risk/exposure). So the risk gets socialized; onto Calif. I think the big reason why FDR was beloved for generations while Obama & Biden got zero credit for their huge stimulus projects is that when those New Deal programs allocated money, people saw stuff getting built. Now it takes years & years from allocation to shovels digging.

America's high-speed rail future is underway. Once completed, the Brightline West project will cut travel time between Las Vegas, NV and Southern CA in half, to just over two hours on new high-speed rail versus by car. This is the future of passenger rail.
