I think a "B" is a fair grade for the Bears. The only glaring holes left are a starting safety (to replace Brisker) and a third EDGE (replacing Robinson and/or Tryon-Shoyinka). Expecting depth adds later in FA and to upgrade those spots in the draft. Bears are well-positioned.

Let me explain exactly why every new subdivision in America looks like the top photo, because the math is wild. A mature tree increases a home's value by 7 to 19 percent. On a $400,000 house, that's $28,000 to $76,000. A single shade tree produces the cooling equivalent of ten room-size air conditioners running 20 hours a day. One tree on the west side of a house cuts energy bills by 12 percent within 15 years. The bottom photo is worth more, costs less to live in, and sells faster. This has been documented by the University of Washington, Clemson, Michigan State, and the USDA. The data is not in dispute. Removing those trees saves the builder roughly $5,000 per lot. Concrete trucks need twice the dripline radius of every standing tree. Utility trenches need flat ground. A bulldozer flattens 200 lots in an afternoon. Preserving trees adds weeks and thousands per home. So the developer pockets $5,000 in savings and the buyer eats $50,000 in lost value for the next two decades. The person making the decision and the person paying for it have never been in the same room. The Woodlands, Texas is the proof of what happens when they are. George Mitchell bought 28,000 acres of Houston timberland in 1974 and preserved 28% as permanent green space. He forced McDonald's to build behind the tree canopy. That McDonald's became one of the highest-volume locations in Texas. The first office building, designed to reflect the surrounding forest so you couldn't see it from the street, leased completely. The Woodlands median home price today: $615,000. Katy, a comparable Houston suburb that clear-cut: $375,000. Named #1 community to live in America two years running. Fifty years of data. The trees are worth more than removing them saves. Developers clear-cut anyway because they sell the house once and leave. You live in it for 30 years.

I’ll give it a C we added speed and coverage ability at ILB and safety but we didn’t do what FA was meant for which was to address our biggest weakness which is our pass rush which is not even league average after FA that along with losing key vets like Gardner Johnson and Kevin Byard hurted this grade as well

Arm measurement is very important to coaches and evaluators but it’s also the most screwed up measurement we have. The ending point is simple, it’s the tip of the middle finger with the arm extended. It’s the starting point that gets screwed up and because of that we often get several different measurements in the same player. The starting point is supposed to be the middle of the AC Joint in the shoulder but if isn’t started there, the measurements can change. When I was with the Bears, I always used the Combine number because the scout who did it had an engineering degree and was very meticulous as to how it’s done. Having the same person measure every player leads to a high degree of accuracy. I don’t know who does it now at Indy but it’s been called into question. Probably the best thing to do is just average the different lengths and go from there

Utah OL Spencer Fano’s arms measured 32 7/8 just now at his pro day, up from 32 1/8 at the Combine. Another indication that, for whatever reason, the measurements in Indy were short for a number of prospects. That’s a big 3/4 inch difference for Fano.

@BarroomNetwork Second highest need on the team after Safety right now. Should be an incredibly important need. Like the DEs on this team much more than our DTs. Every single name on that DT list should be a rotational non starter.

Thoughts on Jack Sanborn. Love the player. Very instinctive and crafty getting off blocks and finding the ball. Has the ability of an NFL starting LB and also a core 4 special teamer. What does this mean for Hyppolite/Sewell? #DaBears #Bears

Bears are building run stopping depth on the DL via free agency. We need more passrush, but stopping the run is another big need.

Not gonna lie, I'm feeling pretty down on this DT draft class. There are some clear fits, but I have questions about just how good those players are.

@WCGridiron I think they were better DT play away from a much better DL. Now if the DT position isn't a hell of a lot better, I'll be very pissed.
