Enbridge Inc. chief executive Greg Ebel said Friday that investors still aren’t fully appreciating a major shift in energy demand driven by AI, rising electricity consumption and energy-security concerns. He said pipeline and infrastructure companies traded at much richer valuation multiples between 2012 and 2016, during U.S. shale boom. “We are in a world with an amazing growth macro for energy infrastructure, the best growth opportunities I have seen in 10 to 15 years,” Ebel said after the company released first-quarter earnings. $ENB

Excellent Whitepaper. CFA Institute @CFAinstitute – “Private Markets: Why Retail Investors Should Stay Away” (November 2025). Private markets were built for institutions with permanent capital and long horizons. Extending them to individuals amplifies existing problems of illiquidity, opacity, and misaligned incentives. I say this all the time. Databases aren’t sold on golf courses anymore. How you post your measurements and benchmarks matter. These days a lot more choices are made by engineering teams not executives on the back nine after 6 beers. The audience is nerds who care.

@kellabyte I'd argue that databases will be chosen by AI. And that AI will be objective whereas people are subjective.

Let me get this straight. The Toronto Maple Leafs hired a GM who had 6 computer screens up with statistics and dashboards. IT was called and they discover 5 of the computers are fake with fake images displayed. This is who the Toronto Maple Leafs hired as top candidate? 😂

"One shotting" an entire implementation is the dumbest thing I've ever heard (for now). For sure you can get a lot done in a batch but removing yourself from the architectural decision steps along the way that you discover as you measure is foolish.

I spoke at a conference in Vancouver yesterday, when asked for my thoughts on Canada's Sovereign Debt fund, I provided an answer and halfway through I was cut off by the moderator and asked to stop as we as a group were "over our time limit." BUT he then went on to my colleague beside me who was allowed plenty of time for his glowing recommendation on Carney, their positive view of the fund and prospects for huge economic growth. How can we make progress if we are too afraid to address our shortcomings?

Someone asked me what is next for software and LLM's I recently read that IDE's will go away. My prediction is that software languages as we no them will disappear. The only reason for languages to exist is for humans to understand them. I predict they will be unnecessary

@dave_cramer If one is looking to build up their inflation-fighting bucket they might add to gold, commodities, oil and gas stocks and REITs. Or dollar cost average. It all depends on your weight and how much you want. 👍
