@joshmanders I was planning to do that but the cost of decent laptops over a MacBook Air was too much. Omarchy is still running on my desktop though.

@A_Jude @RyanDivish Not sure I buy the narrative that JP did it on his own volition but if he did I think that’s a great teammate thing to do an will help his longevity with the team.

Sean Frank@Seanfrank

@zanehengsperger I will invest. I’ll angel invest $125,000 this year directly into new, small, US based manufacturing companies. Five $25,000 checks. 500k valuation. Just get started.

@adamstatonsmith I’ve found everything else like drill bit and hand tool quality is more important. I good drill bit is night and day from a cheap ryobi one.

This is crap. I’m a ryobi guy. I’m an average homeowner. I’d rather have an amazing suite of tools that I use 6x a year than have spent all my money on dewalt drill that I’ll never push near its limits. I’m hanging picture frame for god sakes
Scotch@scotchscotchzz

I witnessed a man at Home Depot go down a dark path. This choice will lead to a broken home, a promiscuous wife, gay children, and unfinished projects while drinking seltzers. If you don’t take your tools seriously you don’t take your life seriously.

The proposed wealth taxes in California and Oregon are ballot initiatives. A simple majority of the population of those states can vote to change their constitution to tax wealthy individuals’ net worth. In California it is a one time 5% tax on net worth over $1 billion. In Oregon, it is an annual 2% tax on net worth over 30 million. These taxes are insane. Those people will leave their states in droves. These stupid progressive policies are utterly ruinous.

This is seriously amazing. A democrat from Seattle saying there's some kind of revolution needed when they've been driving the city into the ground by being anti-jobs (anti-business = anti-jobs) and making EVERYTHING harder to do by having so many nanny state administrators and requirements and people who can say no - especially building apartments, condos, and houses. But then again - looks like she's never operated an apartment or run a company that wasn't "consulting" or built real jobs. linkedin.com/in/pramila-jay…

This is 100% true, but Linux devs were and are in denial about this. There’s a reason the install page for every cross platform app looks like * Download Windows installer * Download OSX package * Click here for Linux install instructions that may or may not work on your distro
gingerBill@TheGingerBill

I don't know if a lot of people have thought why this happened. To make Linux viable for the layman, Valve had to make Proton (derived from Wine) so that Win32 API became the first and only stable ABI on Linux. Why did Linux Distro devs not care about stable ABI historically?

Waymo is coming to Nashville via Lyft. Nashville. Seattle used to be the city that raised its hand first for innovation like this. We were the ones who said yes before anyone else did. Somewhere along the way, municipal Progressives stopped saying yes to innovation, and started saying yes to whoever could apply the most political pressure. In this case, it's unions. That's a real loss.

I don’t believe anyone is moving out of WA because of the millionaire tax: 1. The tax is almost certainly unconstitutional and will be struck down by the court 2. The governor hasn’t even signed it yet 3. Can be repealed by citizen initiative and voters have already voted against income tax 10 times, most recently in 2010 4. Even if it passes, it only takes effect in 2028 5. California, as almost every other state, has an even higher millionaire tax and it seems like plenty of millionaires stay there If you’re wealthy, why would you uproot your life and family on something that will very likely not happen and if it happens you have 2 years to react?
Caleb Hammer@sircalebhammer

Just after Washington State voted to approve a 9.9% "millionaire tax" on personal income over $1 million, Jeff Bezos, Howard Schultz, and tons fled. The impacts will be ENORMOUS. I gathered the facts, stories, and data and made this mini documentary: youtu.be/9Vg0-7c0J3g
