I still don't get why MCP exists and what it does differently than having an API.
Yes, it's built "for AI specifically" but AI is already capable of using APIs. And we have tons of good protocols/frameworks already.

This week, X sealed its victory in its First Amendment lawsuit against California Attorney General Rob Bonta. X challenged provisions of a California law, AB 587, that sought to regulate speech on social media platforms in violation of the First Amendment. No other social media company challenged the law. Following a ruling in X’s favor by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the court has now issued a permanent injunction preventing Bonta and the State of California from enforcing these unconstitutional laws against X, protecting the free speech of our users nationwide. X will always fight for free speech and people's right to express themselves.
