i felt this in dubai mall once. after yet another purchase i just stopped and asked myself, do i actually want this, or do i just want to be part of the brand? i was looking at all those windows and realized the marketing had just done a really clean job on me haha
the "need" wasn't there when i walked in, it got installed somewhere between the entrance and the register
and let's not forget, a lot of these brands are putting out products that are the same quality as cheaper ones, sometimes even worse, just with an insane price tag
because you're not actually paying for the object - you're paying for the entry ticket, for the feeling that you belong, that you have the taste, that you're part of the moment
standing in line for a $400 swatch is the same loop, just more visible

i dont really understand the rush for the swatch x AP watch. not because people cant enjoy watches. buy what you like. but seeing people line up for something that isnt even a true limited edition feels kinda sad. we’ve been trained to treat consumption like participation. stand in the line, buy the object, post the proof, feel like you were part of the moment. the system makes you feel like you are missing something in yourself, then sells you an object to fix it. status. taste. belonging. the watch is almost secondary, you just wanna feel good but it’s gonna be temporary until you have to buy the next thing.

Switzerland obviously S tier, beautiful rich and safe country. Lichtenstein also in this tier with Monaco. Small countries but high quality life.
A tier also pretty good countries with good economies and beautiful nature.
B starts going down. Germany on D, it used to be good, not anymore. France also pretty down.
F tier idk, Iceland is too fara away from everyone and the others are easy to forget.
