I've been saying this forever: If you have a non-technical partner vibe coding apps, pay attention They will have better app ideas than you
Dominik Sobe ツ@sobedominik

my girlfriend launched her first mobile app 5 weeks ago. today it hit $800 MRR and almost $1000 in revenue! incredibly proud boyfriend moment right here. here’s the back story: two months ago my gf approached me and asked me if i can teach her the basics of coding. i was really stoked because it came from her and not me. i tried forcing a partner in the past into coding and let me tell it didn’t work out well lol anyways, being a proud engineer and believing in teaching people first principles i decided to not throw her immediately into AI vibe coding but rather teach her the basics of coding. we started with the Swift playgrounds course which is absolutely amazing btw after she learned programming primitives we moved to web and i taught her a bit of typescript we then built a very simply react native app without any AI so she could get the feeling of how apps actually work (obsly very basic but better than nothing) at that point my life became quite busy again and i had to fully focus on work before that though, i taught her how AI works with Cursor and Claude Code and then i went back to work fast forward a week or two my gf approached me with her first app idea that she wants to build i genuinely couldn’t believe it because it was actually a great idea! very rare for a first timer. she either absorbed a lot of business things i was just casually rambling during dinners or she’s just super smart. probably the latter. the idea had a few rough edges but i didn’t want to influence it too much because i believe that you gotta sometimes make mistakes and learn how to fix them / pivot along the way so i basically “left the chat” and let her cook (or fu*k up) on her own 5 weeks later and her app revenue basically reached her salary (she’s indonesia and wages are a bit rekt) 95% of her revenue is coming from organic Tiktok clips and comments every time i see her on her phone she’s now creating new content for distribution i can see the hunger for more in her eyes and it’s absolutely beautiful

hundreds of people have asked me to mentor them 😬 I'd love to but I can't do it 1:1 for everyone so I'm thinking about something simple $19/month to get: → 1 AMA every 2 weeks → private closed community → direct access to me over DM would this be interesting to anyone? 🤔

A lot of the emails I get from founders are now written in a hard-hitting journalistic style. I know they're written by AI, because no founder ever wrote this way before. And once you realize something is written by AI, it's hard not to ignore it.

I just launched own․page on Product Hunt 🚀 It’s my first ever launch there, and I’d really appreciate your support! If you could check it out and give feedback it would mean the world to me. I’ve poured my heart into own․page and devoted so much time to building it, so I’d love to get it in front of as many people as possible. Thank you so much 💜

yeah it’s quite sad but it is what it is. i see almost daily people getting completely copy-catted. mobile apps somehow have a way bigger “dropship” vibe. those guys are ruthless. those guys literally walk around in coworking spaces, see another person working on a product and then copy the product but outscale them with their ad system. they even brag about it. absolutely horrible 🤣

It does feel like building in public has more downsides than upsides, especially here In web/SaaS it might make more sense because the distribution is different. On mobile, it's easy to copy meta/tiktok ad formats/marketing strategy, the app (thanks AI), and start competing under the same keywords. I guess the app store search is the biggest culprit here
Dominik Sobe ツ@sobedominik

@levelsio i unfortunately can’t share! she wants to keep it low. understandably because in the mobile app space you are absolutRekt if you share an app. you get sniped immediately 😤🫡

@aaronburnett Our goal is launching Starship >10k/year, which would be more than once an hour. Probably over 200 tons of useful load to a useful orbit per flight by then.

I think once we get to a Starship launch every month we’ll see a dramatic increase in optimism. At once a week it will be boring again (for most people). Like Falcon 9 was. But that cadence is a perfect time to get your non-space friends and family to launch if they haven’t already. The experience is powerful the repetition rate makes it undeniably real.

Examining Kate’s 1% She has suspected endometriosis. This affects at least 1 in 10 women, likely more. Here she’s getting an ultrasound. Historically you needed surgery just to diagnose it (incisions are made in the abdomen). We're doing a non-invasive route. Typically women live with endometriosis for 7-10 years before being diagnosed. It’s the leading reason women aged 30 to 34 get hysterectomies (permanent surgery to entirely remove the uterus). This condition is where endometrial-like tissue starts growing outside the uterus, in ovaries, bowel, bladder, even the diaphragm. This tissue inflames, scars, and glues organs together. Our first step is to find out if @_katetolo has it. Initial measurements we’re doing: + trans vaginal ultrasound + pelvic MRI w and w/o contrast + hormonal labs All during the early part of her cycle to get the clearest picture. During her ultrasound, a slim probe, about the width of two fingers, 10-12 inches long (although only a small portion is inserted) is covered with a protective sheath and lubricant and gently inserted into the vagina (patient has to empty their bladder first). This creates real-time images of the uterus, ovaries, and surrounding pelvic structures. While inserted, the probe is turned 90 degrees to evaluate all the various structures, angles and views. There is no radiation exposure. The technician is looking for scarring, ovarian cysts, adhesions, and for organs that are fused together with tissue. This ultrasound can confirm endometriosis but it cannot rule it out. What endo does to the body: + 90% report pelvic pain + 50% report severe fatigue + 26% report infertility. However many sources cite 30 to 50 percent. + 50% experience pain during sex. + Many have pain with ovulation, bowel movements, and urination + Severe bloating called “endo belly” where the abdomen visibly distends There are a handful of theories about why endometriosis develops but the honest answer is no one is quite sure. We’ll keep you posted on her results.

Day 23 at @HackerResidency A great Saturday today - the perfect mix of work, relaxing, and having a good time. 36h left until my Product Hunt launch, so I spent first half of the day doing the final prep on the materials. In the afternoon, a few of us went for a swim - and somehow it was my first proper swim in the sea since I got here. Then I went again to 4P’s Pizza because it’s just soooo good. Best pizza place in Vietnam, honestly. Saw the Dragon Bridge fire again, and ended the night with a long walk and a very funny first durian experience thanks to @andrewzacker 😃

Day 22 at @HackerResidency Today came with one of the least glamorous founder tasks: dealing with taxes, closing a company, and all the bureaucratic chaos around it. I’ll share more soon about how and why I’m moving my company from Austria to Bulgaria. The day still started beautifully with a visit to Lady Buddha, where I finally saw monkeys - something I really wanted to experience here. The rest of the day was focused on the Product Hunt launch, company closing tasks, and a few product improvements. And it ended just as nicely: dinner with a view over the Dragon Bridge and the fire show.
