@gator_gum Nothing wrong with taxes? Canada has one of the highest tax rate in the free world. You are an absolute moron.

People with families use food banks. People with jobs use food banks. People with disabilities use food banks. Seniors use food banks. Food insecurity is real!!! No one should be priced out of eating nutritious food, not because they don’t work hard enough, not because they’re disabled, not because they’re aging, and not because their income doesn’t keep up with the cost of living. Food is not a luxury, its a human need.

Canadians do not understand how ground breaking this court ruling is. Basically the province needs to get a census of the treaty holders before any petition or referendum can be made on separation. Without indigenous consent there is no legal way forward its that simple cbc.ca/news/canada/ed…

Straw poll time. Has the Alberta/Ottawa agreement to maybe, possibly, hopefully approve a pipeline in a year and a half made you less inclined to vote for independence in a referendum? Yes or no.

@gator_gum This province is still worth fighting for. The country however will never be the same after what the east has done to it. That’s why we fight for Alberta.

Dear Albertan Seperatist, If you hate Canada and want to leave, go. You're absolutely free to leave the country you hate. However, you do not have the right to take millions of others that don't want to go along with you. If you hate living in Canada, why are you staying? If it's so critical you "get out from our government" then start the process right now. Today. I think for some it's just a game, and you have no intentions of ever leaving. You just want to yell, rebel, and vent about a government you dislike... There are some very serious, of course.. But why remain? Why?

@Reil76 @JasonGregor You don’t get it. Albertans like myself aren’t against paying income tax. It’s the fact it goes somewhere that doesn’t benefit us. The fact when a federal vote happens, we know what the outcome will be before we get home from our jobs. We don’t get a say no matter how we vote.

Alberta separatists claim oil is the key to independence and they’re not gonna pay income tax. Wellllll Alberta made $22B from oil & gas royalties last year. Sounds like the industry is carrying the whole province, right? Here’s what they don’t tell you. Income taxes brought in $24.2B. Regular Albertans and businesses quietly out-contributed the oilpatch. And oil isn’t stable. In 2015 when prices tanked, resource revenue collapsed to $2.8B. The province ran deficits almost every year from 2008 to 2022. Next year, with oil forecast lower, resource revenue is projected to drop to $13.2B while income tax stays steady near $24B. So when someone tells you we can’t afford to question the oil industry, or that pipelines and royalty breaks are non-negotiable because oil funds everything, ask them this: Why does a province sitting on one of the world’s largest energy reserves keep going broke every time the price of a barrel moves? The industry is important. Nobody’s denying that. But it’s a volatile. Alberta has been using boom revenues to avoid hard conversations instead of building something durable.

You haven't read the play book yet. We borrow at 2% (as only the Federal Government can do) and invest in projects that have a return of 5-10%! The more we invest, the more we make. The earnings retire the debt!
Kelly DeRidder, MP@KellyDeRidderMP

The government keeps comparing their sovereign wealth fund to Norway’s but Canadians are being misled. Norway built its fund with surpluses. Canada is running deficits. This isn’t a sovereign wealth fund, it’s a Canadian debt fund.

Again, Mark Carney, a Liberal, has acted to lower you tax on gas. Your premier has not. Poilievre met with Smith, and has not asked her to do the same. Why are Liberals reducing your tax burden, while Conservatives refuse to do the same? Why is RW Twitter not calling on their Premiers to act in this?

This is such a lazy, privileged response. Homeless people aren’t lazy. In fact, many are some of the hardest working people I know. Some are working full-time jobs, some are juggling two jobs and still can’t afford rent, food, or stability. People fall into homelessness because of impossible housing costs, trauma, mental health struggles, disability, addiction, job loss, family breakdown, or simply bad luck in a system with very little safety net. It’s easy to judge people when you’ve never had to walk a mile in their shoes. Most people making comments like this wouldn’t survive a single day living outside without support. Teach your kid compassion, not stereotypes. Do better.
Derrick Evans@DerrickEvans4WV

My 6 year old just asked me… “Dad, why don’t homeless people just get a job instead of asking for money?” How the heck do I respond to that? I simply responded that they could but choose not to.

We are seriously on track to see the world’s first trillionaire before every human being has access to clean drinking water. Think about how insane that is.🤯 There is enough wealth on this planet to make sure nobody dies from thirst, starvation, exposure, or lack of healthcare, but instead we glorify extreme wealth accumulation while basic human needs go unmet. A system should be judged by how it treats the most vulnerable, not by how many billionaires it creates! Unbelievable.
